2018 mid-term election

He is stopping Senators from campaigning in the Midterms to keep their seats. More Democrats' seats are contested than GOP ones.

Exactly, It's blatent move to favor the Republicans.
Os obvious that I really have to question the political knowledge of anybody who does not see that right away.

I see the Bernie Sanders son got trouned in the New Hampshire primaries yesterday.
Americans of all political stripes don't like nepotism and running primarily on your daddy's name very much. Sanders jr should have at least waited until his Father was retired.

I keep thinking we don't like nepotism. I keep believing that my fellow citizens recognize how tying political prominence with family is against our founding principles.
And I keep seeing Bushs, Kennedys, Clintons, Huckabees, among others, in positions of power. Locally, it is the same- the city council here in Philly has been loaded with the children of former Mayors.

Seems to me that, in spite of my personal outlook, America loves us some nepotism.

Whole lotta grumbling about voters' names being taken off the rolls in--wait for it--New York!

Today's issues call to mind the widespread voter disenfranchisement that marred the 2016 New York primary elections, when over 200,000 registered voters showed up at the polls to find themselves purged from the voter rolls by the city Board of Elections. The BOE said the purge was the result of a series of mistakes that occurred during an attempt to "clean up" the voter rolls. And after the election, the BOE discarded roughly 90,000 of 121,000 affidavit ballots cast by registered voters who workers couldn't find on the rolls.

If you read the tweets it becomes obvious that most of the people who were removed are likely voters for Nixon/Teachout (or at least they are the ones highlighted by the Gothamist article.

The New Republic notes that the New York City Public Housing Authority sent out notices to all of its tenants requiring that they make their apartments available for inspection today between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Hence many of the residents who are disproportionately minority and poor will find it difficult to vote today.

Honestly the GOP are pikers when it comes to suppressing the vote. Cuomo's got it down to an art form.

I really have to question why anyone would assume in-person campaigning is decisive these days.

It works in Iowa and New Hampshire, but nowhere else, largely because the people there expect it.

Cynthia Nixon: 508,520 (34%)

FTFY. I don't know if you see this before the edit window closes and I'm pretty sure you didn't multiply the stupidity of the NYHA by fifty fold intentionally. I assume people aren't all that familiar with "the projects" in NYC - they are vast and cover a lot more voters than were effected here. It was one project of quite a few more than one.

NY voting requirements still suck! The DOJ should take it over like they do rogue police departments!

I find this amusing :
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/13/trump-booming-economy-midterms-782465

In an alternate universe, President Donald Trump would be heading into the midterms relentlessly touting his stewardship of a strong economy with results that include historically low unemployment, solid economic growth, sky-high enthusiasm among small businesses and shattered records for job openings.

Instead, the president is repeatedly muddling that message with easily debunked falsehoods or hyperbole about the state of the economy while pressing on with unpopular trade wars that frustrate establishment Republicans and business groups worried about price increases. His undisciplined approach — coupled with his obsessing about the Russia investigation, Hillary Clinton and the 2016 election — is damaging what many Republicans say should have been a political slam dunk for the GOP heading into the fall.

That's what you get for putting a spoiled infant in charge.

Just this week, as the White House rolled out a fresh push to tout the strong economy, Trump tweeted that economic growth was higher than the jobless rate for the first time in 100 years. It was actually the first time in 12 years. And he suggested that if Hillary Clinton had won the White House, the economy would be sharply contracting right now, an assertion not supported by any available facts or mainstream economists.

The claims follow months in which Trump claimed the GOP tax cut was the biggest in history. It wasn’t. And he repeatedly suggested the U.S. economy is now stronger than at any time in history. It isn’t.

White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Kevin Hassett, who took to the briefing room on Monday to argue that Trump’s economy is much more than just a continuation of trends that began a decade ago under President Barack Obama, wound up having to explain why Trump tweeted his false claim about GDP and unemployment.
No wonder there's such a long line of people eager to work in the White House for the most popular President ever ...

Some of Willie Nelson's fans are upset that he's going to be headlining a September 29th rally for "that socialist commie" Beto O’Rourke.

“Goodbye Willie,” David R. Williams posted on Facebook. “I don’t support socialist commies! You’re not going to advertise on my FB page either.” He added: “Like we say in Texas, Now Git.”

“Open your eyes Willie!” Claudia Kirby Heathington wrote. “Beto is a Socialist who probably has lied to you. This is a real shame you support him.”

“Wow what a let down,” said Melanie Philip. “You would pick a socialist agenda and an Anti American fellow like BETO, shame on you.”

One man was so disgusted with Nelson that he offered up his ticket to one of the legend’s upcoming shows.

“I am no longer willing to watch that hippie guitarist who supports that … socialist running for Senate,” tweeted Dakota Bell on Wednesday.

I guess they weren't familiar with his political views in the first place. He's a country singer, so he must be a Conservative, right?

He might be a staunch Conservative ...
... but no one likes Ted Cruz.

How can anyone with a shred of self-respect vote for someone without an ounce of self-respect or respect for his wife?

It's amazing how many on the right are against or even fearful of socialism while simultaneously not understanding what it is.

The way these idiots think boycotts work, I wouldn't be surprised if they buy all of Willie's albums off of iTunes, download them to their iPhone, then burn the iPhone on YouTube. You know, to pwn the libs.

It's amazing how many on the left have never been to Venezuela.

Amazing how many Trump supporters don't seem to grasp how bad a right wing dictatorship can be.

Or that liberals aren't socialists, and that socialist Nordic countries managed to have more attractive socialist societies even if they have now changed.

I thought everyone knew that Socialism is basically the views of Hitler. It's at the midpoint between Communism and something else that I don't know.
