Dr. Steven Novella of the New England Skeptical Society (and an assitant professor of neurology at Yale) has written all about the autism/vaccine link here:

Some of you may remember the mailing list I operated at one time, containing links to news articles of interest to skeptics. I'd like to let everyone know that I'm going to restart the list, though I will not be posting the results to this board as I had in the past.
If you're interested in...
None. I am tired of threads with variants of this argument, so I am going to put it into large letters for everyone to read:
Being a 'Skeptic' isn't like being a 'thing'. It's an approach to an argument and has no ethics attributed to it.
If I'm wrong, then I really screwed up with the big...
In this thread, the following comment was made by clarsct about skeptics who are christians, and skeptics who are atheists. My intention here is not to put clarsct or anyone else on the spot. What I'd like to do is to discuss whether or not someone can be considered a skeptic if they happen to...
For the skeptic:
Please identify this horrible organic "thing".
Data:
For more than a century, recordings of these things known as globsters support that they have washed ashore worldwide for many, many years. On the pictures available they have no recognizable features with resemblance to...
Anyone know of any company that sells skeptical t-shirts? I want to let people know of my objection to wooism. I think that clothing w/ skeptical slogans would be the most effective way (other option= engage in a skeptical rant with people who talk to me :D ).
By 'pray' I do not mean meditation, I mean a mental request to something outside ourselves
Go vote........ it only takes a few seconds ....
Edited to define 'pray'

Hi,

In the recent gecko posts, IIRichard and jmercer both said they were Christians. I don't understand. I'm pretty new here. How can there be overlap? Do you mean that you believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ?
Thanks
Jen
Some time ago I came across this suggestion for a new definition of terms in Fortean Times magazine. The recent discussion on the other thread "Challenge to Skeptics" inspired me to post this here. (I thought it better to start a new thread instead of further jumbling up the topics over there.)...
'Scuse me... the Muse has been singing in me again. A Muse, anyway. One of the less well-known ones.
This will go to a number of tunes, but perhaps the melody of the verse of Oh Dear, What Can The Matter Be? is the most apt.
Song Of The Sceptic
They talked of the ether and crystal...
I am a "born again" sceptic *grin* but i am still chewing on a few things a " Psychic" told me a few years back while i was living in the UK.
This women was very well known in Sheffield where i lived and my friends and i booked her for a session out of curiosity.
Not any of us had ever met her...
Silly question, I know. There seems to be significant gains with meditation, like reduced stress and such, but there also seems to be alot of woo-woo ideas connected to the idea of meditation. Is it possible, that while being aware that meditation and potential resulting OBEs is just your own...
Yeah, my younger brother is a bastard, I try really hard to think skeptically at all times, and he just seems to do it naturally, without even trying. He's not an active skeptic, but he did send me the following email, which I found diverting and it might be a good argument to use against the...
In my experience, 'believer' forums tend to generate a genuine mob atmosphere as soon as a skeptic turns up. "We are here to share experiences, not to be insulted with demands for evidence!", "If you have no experience of your own, get out!" or "Visit a medium yourself and then come back!"
When...
There was a cartoon a while back that I used to catch my daughter watching, which involved a dog, an old woman, and her cranky old husband. I think it was called "Courage, the Cowardly Dog".
Anyway, add a Cajun accent, and you've got my wife's Grandfather; a grumpy WWII vet who's got something...
I’ve been having trouble finding skeptic books, Borders and Barnes & Noble only seem to have pro paranormal books. I’ve had to special order almost all the books I’ve bought. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any good books on skeptics or the paranormal? Here is a list of what I own...
I got the book from the library, "Sleeping with Extra-Terrestirials" by Wendy Kaminer. The sub title is, "The Rise of Irrationalism and Perils of Piety".
In the introduction she confesses she sees a homeopath and has no interest in learning WHY homeopathy does not work. She says it works for...
