Backlash against psychic Sylvia Browne - USA NOW video

It is indeed nice to see. However, I think the segment still walked on eggshells by not only quoting Berry's family for saying they don't blame her but ending with Sylvia's self-serving statement about only god being always right and her being relieved she was wrong. :(

I have seen no other source for the purported quote from Berry's family other than Browne's people.

It will be interesting to see whether or not they actually said that.

And their reporting Browne's quote (that she cannot be right all of the time) was not "walking on eggshells", but trying to show both sides of the story. It would have been nice had they then went into Browne's "track record" at that point, though...

The fact that they didn't mention her track record made me think of "walking on eggshells." At least, that's how it came off to me. I don't expect the reporting to sound cruel, but I came away with the feeling that such segments are treated as gently as if somebody had said that an angel materialized and saved their baby's life.

I'm glad that we each saw it differently; I find that interesting. I also expect both sides of a story, but it seems to me that psychic stuff is, after all these decades, still treated with kid gloves. Again, at least that's my impression from what such segments I've seen. Well, except for Shawn Hornbeck, maybe.

Perhaps it is your journalistic talent that made you see it almost entirely differently than I did. :)

The clip didn't show anything about Sylvia's Facebook page being taken down. But perhaps that happened after the clip was broadcast.

ETA: no, HuffPo said on 8 May that the page had been removed.

Day late and a dollar short.

Isn't Browne dead yet?

Personally, I think this recent re-examination of SB may serve to call into question the similar claims of all self-proclaimed psychics. So whether or not SB is as active as she once was, I think this negative attention serves a purpose that extends well beyond her.

That was one of the main reasons I chose Browne as the focus of the Site, Stellafane: In hopes that people reading the evidence about her, arguably the most well-known psychic of our times, would take what they learned of her there and apply it to other psychics.

Would be interesting if we could get a count somehow of the bums on seats at her - what does she call them now? Conferences? - Tacky show in Las Vegas.

So is she pretty much restricted now to her books, her telephone readings and her cruises?

No, she is apparently still touring. I just meant that I am not aware of her still having the monthly Excalibur gig.

Of course not! She is only 76 years old, and has said that she will die when she is 88, don'tcha know?

As much as it would be bittersweet, I'd love to hear that Toledo try to weasel out of why she was turning 89.

Polaris, it doesn't take a psychic to predict what she would say:

"I cannot be psychic about myself!"

Er, but she already did predict how old she'll be when her body finally dies. I'll be just as happy if it's well before she hits 88, of course.
