So it begins. Birthright Citizenship repeal

Who said force??

Let their ILLEGAL parent(s) decide what's best for their child...wouldn't you agree?

I like how you keep spelling illegal in all caps, I can almost see the spittle flying from your mouth as you say it.

You're not actually giving the parents a choice though. You're granting their kids citizenship, shaking their hands in congratulations, then telling them to get out and take their brat(s) with them.

No, I spell ILLEGAL all in caps because it makes the spittle fly from your mouth when you read it :D

Again I'll ask, you're not seriously saying that we should abide by one law, but not the other...are you??

Should an ILLEGAL not be deported?

Does the ILLEGAL get an exemption or American citizenship too if they merely have a child here?

help me out...

Right.. give the parents the choice to leave their child on the streets or join them in deportation.

You should be selling insurance for the mafia.

To make this legal, you have to amend the Constitution and 2/3 of the states need to ratify it. Isn't happening any time in MY lifetime.

2/3 in both houses of Congress, and then 3/4 of states' legislatures.

no worries.

Deporting ILLEGALS is already the law.

we should enforce the law.

What's sad is that many in the border states are using the drug-cartel violence as the reason for this.

I'm trying to grasp how that could even be relevent to birthright citizenship but cant.

Qualifications to be president are not equal to citizenship. To become president you have to be a natural born citizen. You can actually be a citizen and still not qualify to be president (Schwarzenneger, for example).

That brings up another issue. Many of those who support these bills are also birthers. They don't like the fact that a person, born in this country to two illegal aliens can become prewsident (asuming age and residency requirents are met).

I also suspect that there is some wishful thinking that this might be a way to backdoor a birther chalenge of Obama's presidency.

So then what you're saying is that we should grant the children citizenship, deport them and their parents. And allow them to return at anytime so long as Ma and Pa don't come with them.

If I am not mistaken, that is the way it happens currently.

Illegal immigrants are rational. Right now the benefits from birthright citizenship outweigh the costs of immigrating therefore some rationally try to have children in the US.
Then they must be rational and long-term planners, since their kid can't sponsor them for immigration until that kid reaches adulthood.

Personally, I think this is a waste of time. It won't pass the Senate, if it even passes the House.

This is nothing more than political theater... all form, and no substance. Boy, I'm so happy the GOP has come back to power in the U.S. House

ETA: One substantive thing which will come out of all this stupidity is the fact that the Republican party is essentially destroying any chance of gaining ground among the Hispanic-American population; in fact, they seem to be doing all they can, in a misguided bid to appease the Tea Party wingnuts, to actively drive Hispanic citizens towards the Democrats. Idiots.
