Did the Progressive movement support fascism in the 1930s?

This looks to be a "good" source...

Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning

Because it was a non-fiction best-seller two years ago, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the source, directly or indirectly, for theprestige's claims.

By the way, I stumbled on this book while trying (in vain) to verify this claim, which I would think would be easy to verify if true:

Popular musicians in America composed songs celebrating Benito Mussolini.

A bit of trivia: the author is Jonah Goldberg, son of Lucianne Goldberg, who was the confidant to Linda Tripp, who was the confidant to Monica Lewinski.

Goldberg was ripped apart by Jon Stewart when he went on TDS

One platitudinous line hardly constitutes "evidence".

Ah, so in your world the two leading fascists explicitly stating they supported the Progressives is not evidence of fascists supporting Progressives.

What color's the sky in your world?

Oh, so if I were to say I support the KKK, that's not evidence that I support the KKK unless I actually hang out with them?

I think, as skeptics, we can take a fascist's statement of "I like what you're doing" to mean that fascist likes the activities in which his listener is engaged.

I don't see a problem with that, skeptically speaking.

Diplomacy, among many other things, is the art of saying things you don't mean to prevent things you don't like from happening.

So, you don't really think Hitler and Mussolini meant it when they expressed their affection for FDR's consolidation of power, ramming of bills through Congress, threatening the courst, and basically shifting toward monolithic authority?

You really don't think they were fond of such things?

REALLY?

You draw the wrong conclusions from this.

Hitler and Moussalini admired FDR because they thought that he was goping to rule as a strongman and tell congress to fall in line.

Didn't happen.

Oh, if only the New Deal never happened...

A majority of the anti-war socialists in France's parliment wanted to appease Hitler and voted with Petain to form the Vichy government.
