Unaccounted money in the Pentagon? (CT)

I recall reading a conspiracy theory about why the Pentagon was hit on 9/11. On September 10, 2001, Rumsfeld announced in a press conference that several billion dollars in Pentagon transactions could not be accounted for (or something of that sort, feel free to correct me on what he was talking about).

Apparently, Rummy and the neocons in the Pentagon thought it'd be a great idea to blow up part of their own building and kill over 100 of their own people for the sake of avoiding a minor scandal...so the CTers say.

Rumsfeld announced that 2.3 trillion could not be accounted for. MikeW's research notwithstanding, that 2.3 trillion has never been fully accounted for.

I am guessing this is where pomeroo comes in again and tells me that Rumsfeld's speech tells us that the money has all been accounted for. pomeroo, please be so kind as to reply to this post.

Wrong, Clippy. The money was never gone. You should really try to understand the entire conversation regarding this situation.

OK, so you don't understand what the term accounted means. Fair enough.

Of course you then would like to believe that 6 years worth of defense budget just magically disappeared all at once somehow. And that for 6 years no military employees or contractors were paid and not a single one spoke up. How many soldiers do you think can support their families for 6 years with no income? But hey, it was never found according to you. And STILL not a single complaint from any employees. How do you suppose that is?

Think about it for a while. And then when you still can't figure it out, read the actual speech that Rumsfeld gave instead of taking the one single line from it that the cult tabloids use. It's self explanatory if you actually research instead of quote mine.

This has to be one of my favourites.

Apparently conspiritards think that there's a room filled with cash at the Pentagon and sometime before Sept 10 Rumsfeld distracted the guards, entered the room, stuffed his pockets with $2.3 trillion then walked out. Then on the 10th (in a brilliant move), he announced that the money was missing. The next day he arranged for a plane to hit the building, thereby taking everyones minds off of the missing dough.

Does that about cover it?

The thing is that it's not money that's unaccounted for, it's transactions. So the money isn't missing. Just the paper trail of what the money was spent on is unaccounted for.

I bet it went for the remote-controlled aircraft, hologram machines, space beam weapons, hush money and lunches during the planning phase.

Are you obfuscating or are you just stupid?

Apperently the stupidity is on your part. Where does it say that the money itself is missing?
In fiscal 1999, a defense audit found that about $2.3 trillion of balances, transactions and adjustments were inadequately documented. These "unsupported" transactions do not mean the department ultimately cannot account for them, she advised, but that tracking down needed documents would take a long time. Auditors, she said, might have to go to different computer systems, to different locations or access different databases to get information.

You left out that the plane didnt hit the building.
Perhaps a flying brinks truck swooped down and grabbed the money?

D'oh! Forgot that part. So as Rumsfeld's waddling out of the money room with his fanny pack stuffed with one billion dollar bills, he's on his cell phone.

Rumsfeld: Hey George. I've got the cash. Yeah, wasn't too hard. Just told the guard that his shoelace was untied and when he looked down I ran in, grabbed a couple of fistfuls and ran back out.

Bush: That's great Don. How many people are we going to have to silence?

R: None. We just threaten anyone who finds out.

GWB: How are you going to do that.

R: Already taken care of. I called Pilots R Us and hired someone to do us a little job. Tomorrow morning he's going to fly a jet straight at the Pentagon, then at the last second pull up and fly over.

GWB: Um, Don, I hate to tell you this but no big jet in the world can do that.

R: No problem George, we've got trillions of dollars here. I'm going to buy the laws of physics and change them just for those few seconds.

GWB: And what's this going to accomplish?

R: Don't worry George, everyone in the Pentagon will get the message - if you know what I mean.

GWB: Sounds good to me Don. See you at the Grove tomorrow.

Now what part did I get wrong?

Seriously, are you the dumbest human on the planet? Your fellow liars have abandoned this idiocy. There is no "missing" 2.3 trillion dollars. There never was.

Stop for a moment and take a deep breath. We understand that you desperately want to swallow these insane fantasies, but that's your problem. You have been directed to read Rumsfeld's speech. Either you are incapable of doing so or you have read it and are continuing to lie. It's doesn't matter.

No money is missing. It is a silly falsehood fabricated by a liar.

Irrelevancies about a program favored by liberal Democrats and opposed by most conservatives won't provide much of a smokescren. Your lies have been exposed.
