"People should not be afraid of their government, government should be afraid of it's people".

That's a a line from "V for Vendetta", a movie that the conspiracy liars seem to love but I don't understand why. Two of the plot lines involve acceptance of gay relationships, and we know many of the "troothers" are big time homophobes.

Upon watching this movie again made me realize how much the conspiracy liars are fearful of the U.S. government. How sad that someone could be soooo scared of morons like Bush/Cheney/Rice. If George W. Bush scares you so much, what does the (federally employed, in your face) mailman do to your fear factor?

As for government fearing it's people, those folks who really believe in a 9/11 government conspiracy must now, after 5+ years, realize how little the government fears or even notices what they are doing. Where's their "V"? When will the U.S. government be shaking in fear at their collective wrath?

Ooops, I forgot. A rerun of the X-Files is coming on. They gotta go.

Once again, it is all about the world they live in. If they had to face the real world...you know the one where most of life is normal, and free of big brother influence...you know the real, non-orwellian world, if they had to face that world, then they would have to face the fact that their lives really are boring, and that they really do have to finish that education and get a real job, and not spend all day on the internet.

Me I'd rather go for s system that wasn't based on fear in either direction.

I wonder how many of them will start quoting "300" and claim that it's based on the truth movement?

You mean the mailman is in on it too! :boxedin:

Probably a bad idea to pick at this, but nobody really considers Rice and Cheney to be morons, do they? I can understand Bush, although I don't agree with it.

No, I don't think Cheney or Rice are morons.

Rice is an extremely intelligent person with a fair amount of of integrity who seems to have come to the late realisation that she has been taken for a ride on a train to electoral disaster. I bet she wishes now that she got off the ride at the same time as Colin Powell did...

Cheney is the smart but horrible creep who tends to play second-banana to the big creeps, and who has tried to move up a notch.

Any further US bigwigs you would like me to slander?

Yeah I have often wondered where this fear of government comes from. Seriously do any of us live lives that would be more than mildy interesting to the government. They can monitor me all they like, my phone cons, emails blah blah - I will know if I am ever wire tapped. I will hear the snoring on the other end in a matter of minutes

Whats the old saying. The only thing to fear, is fear itself

What would it take to intelligently and purposefully monitor the communications of a nation of ~300 million people? Even with computers, I would think it would take, say, one monitor per thousand, which would mean a monitoring staff of 300,000 per 8-hour shift, or 900,000 total. Plus security guards, IT staff, janatorial, building maintanance, secretarial and other support staff, management...

And all of these people, themselves, have to be monitored for security purposes.

For comparison, anybody know how many people work at the Pentagon?

Incidentally, there was a guy dressed in a V outfit that wandered around Capitol Hill for a few hours several months ago, handing out the "List O' Grievances" to security. There are pictures, but I'm sure it was funnier in person.

At any rate, I'm wanna know where he got the Guy Fawkes mask because I really want one.

So does he just make lots of accidents?

He's got a BA from Yale and an MBA from Harvard. His grades were actually modestly better than John Kerry at the former. He had SAT scores of 566 verbal and 640 math under the old scoring system, which are both well above average.

He's certainly a poor extemporaneous speaker (as was his father), which I think gives rise to most of the claims that he's mentally deficient.

Cheney is scary, just look at him. Also, he was in on 9/11 because he helped write "Rebuilding America's Defenses."

I really like Rice, she has been doing a great job these last few years. The main problem with her is that she was also in on 9/11 since she called Willie Brown and warned him not to fly.

Bush is just taking the hit for everything that happens now. Whenever I ask people why they don't like Bush, they can almost never give me a real answer. It's just like:
Him/her: "I don't like his policies."
me: "Which Policies?"
Him/her: *silence*

I'm not a big fan of Bush myself, but I like people to be somewhat educated before hating him.

About 23,000 at The Pentagon I believe, mostly civilians.

Once long ago I recall someone doing a break down of the archetypal "big brother, read all your emails" scenario in a practical sense. It ended up with someone like 1 in 3 Americans working for the Government simply to keep tabs on the other 2. Of course that was back in the days before really high tech computer technology.

So true. It's just not enough to disagree anymore, people seem compelled to up the ante to the point where Bush is the devil himself. I'm reminded of Tool's "Stinkfist":

Something kinda sad about
the way that things have come to be
Desensitized to everything
What became of subtlety?

I do not really think BUSH is a "moron" if you mean intellectually. I mean compared to the intellect level of previous presidents, he is not the sharpest presidential tool in the shed, but he is not dumb...I think his mannerisms just make him seem that way.

As for Cheyney, I think he is a crafty politician who lacks the charisma to ever be president.

I like Condi Rice alot. I think she gets lumped in with the rest, and to an extent I see why as she often tows the party line, but I still think she would make a decent president if she ran.

Let's see...

George W. Bush stole two Presidential elections.
He allowed the worst terror attack in American history to occur.
He piddled away the Clinton surplus, with a deficit higher than all previous administrations combined.
He has committed treason, in the outing of Valerie Plame.
He has broken more treaties than any American President.
He has lost a major city, in the worst response ever to a national emergency.
He has spent more vacation time than any President ever.
Highest disparity of wealth in US history.
Bush cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than any other president in US history.
appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.
largest exodus of career experts in every branch of the administration due to crony/idealogue appointments, from CIA to DOJ to EPA to NWS.
The most secretive and un-accountable of any administration in U.S. history.
Largest increase in poverty since the depression.
He has lied us into a war--and lost the war.
only president in American history to disregard the civilian office of the Executive by wearing a military uniform. Not even the accomplished Generals Washington, Eisenhower, Grant, Jackson... No other president has worn military garb while in office except a fortunate son who dodged the draft.
The only administration in American history, during a time of war, to propose tax cuts, much less openly arrogant tax-cuts for the wealthiest during any war
first administration in American history to start a war of choice based on bad information
first administration in American history not to raise taxes to pay for a protracted war.
first administration in history, of either party, who has failed to support the Clean Water Act.
first Administration in history that has a President of the United States, a Secretary of State, a Secretary of Defense, and a National Security Adviser, none of whom ever spent one minute wearing the uniform of the armed forces of the United States of America.
first administration in US history to specifically target homosexuals and to thwart the scientific study of sex, research on AIDS, and innumerable other sexual health initiatives
first President appointed by the Supreme Court (and a corrupt Supreme Court at that!)

first President to admit to an impeachable offense.
worst record on jobs of any president in American history.
First President thought by a majority of Americans to be an unelected, incompetent fraud.
He has committed numerous war crimes.
He has lost all our allies of consequence.
World terrorism has tripled.
The violent crime rate is in double digits.
Torture is national policy.
He has disgraced the nation and made it the most hated in the world.
Thousands of people are dead because of him.
The Army is weakened beyond belief.
Our wounded soldiers are lying around in their own urine.
The only President in U.S. history who continued his vacation when informed that a well known and capable enemy was PLANNING to attack the United States
the only President who continued reading his book when informed that that same enemy is ATTACKING the United States at that very moment.
First administration in U.S. history in which both President and vice President have criminal records
first President to flip the American people the bird (same to you, Big Guy!)
First dry drunk in the White House
first President to go into brainlock when told the country was under attack
first President thought by most people in the world to be the biggest threat to most people in the world
first (and last) neocon President

You're right. What is everyone's problem with this guy?
