The hunt for Duane is still on. An anonymous medium contacted the SAPS site to offer some insight. Although we've now posted pretty much everything about his story, we left out some tiny details that someone who claimed to have seen him would know. And... well, right now we're testing that out. I wish all mediums who participate the best of luck.

And finally, I've cracked a bit and gone off on mediums a tad. I couldn't help it. After eight readings and not a single solid hit, I got a tad frustrated. Surely the laws of probability... surely ONE of them... meh.

This is my message to mediums, and to everyone who is seeking someone and considering speaking to a medium:

"Have you ever met someone who loved tragedy? Who basked in it? Welcome to the world of mediums..."

I agree with RSL, even when you're bad you're nice. Now, me - when I light into someone, I'm declared the Antichrist! I think it's my affection for black leather garments. :D
 
Indeed, if that's you being "bad", you probably haven't spent nearly enough time on this forum to realize what it means to be really bad. Although that might be a good thing, because the bad habit of being confrontational hasn't rubbed off on you yet :)

Personally, I see this as remarkable, considering you never mentioned Duane was in the Navy....oh wait, you did:

Duane began experiencing problems while enrolled at Rice University in 1969. He was eventually diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but struggled on anyway. He did a brief stint in the Navy, worked for a while as a taxi driver, and eventually returned to his parent's home.

Alright, interesting turn of events here in SAPS land...

One of the first mediums we contacted - Psychic Detective Jeffry Palmer - has apparently stumbled onto the SAPS site.

He wrote us an irritated e-mail. Here's how it starts:

"Ah…charades and pretense wrapped in the disguise of scientific inquiry, how original."

And here's how our response starts ;) :

"I'm not sure which part of me asking for your help was a charade or a pretense. If you had been able to offer information about Duane, then that would've gone up on the site just as much as the false information did."

Here's the first line of hers:

"Not having a body or proof that any crime was committed is next to impossible to pursue."

And ours:

"I'm not sure that I understand. Why does there have to be a body or a crime in order for a psychic to be able to find someone?"

Nice wording on your part! Succinct, but not rude. And, like you said, you are asking for genuine help in the search for Duane. That Jeffry is out of line with his letter. And you are right about Beth. The question of why a "missing" body blocks a psychic is a perfectly valid question!
All I can think of is that it's too bad that Unsolved Mysteries is no longer on the air. If Stack did a story on Duane it would have been of more help than all of these so-called "mediums."

One more update from Beth on the site now... but it's a total cop-out.

The guy I went off on a little hasn't written back, nor has the person I confronted with the race question.

Mediums... pssh.
 
I know I shouldn't, but I occasionally rebut the woos on this http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2256434&st=0 board. A recent thread shows the futility of arguing with these people. (My responses in italic)

Working on a project where, I will be the psychic Medium, I will be paired against someone who is a skeptic. Looking from input on all of the great GH skepics out there. What would you want as proof and that sort of thing. No bashing, if you don't mind. Just science kind of stuff. Prove it sort of thoughts. What would you want to see a Medium do..... What do you consider proof?

Thanks, but I already work on Cold Case files and missing persons for several different police departments. I've proved myself to them. But this is a reality TV show they won't want to intrude on a on going police case. That kind of thing can get me in trouble real fast. Knowing crime scence information is best done by professionals.

Can you give us the names of the Police Departments so we may contact them? I'm sure they'd be happy to say that your abilities are proven.


I'm not putting names of Departments out, most I have contracts with that won't allow that. It's a public forum. Not the best place to toss that kind of thing out there. The TV show is contacting them and will do the interviews. I tried an open experiment with everyone on the GH board. Lots of interest but no follow thru.

Pay attention........I want to know, what you would except from a tv show, to show that a Medium is real.......I don't want to prove it one person on the board. Ask around here... I've been around here for a while. I'm not blowing smoke in the air. We did a first tape this weekend.... wanted ideas from a few friends from around here.
