Lamb in the city

Zionked - thanks for taking time to respond.

"OK, now we can move on and look at what you claim. What exactly do you claim?
What is different from your explanation to Kelly about heartbeats and her sons, and a gut feeling?
What success (proven success) have you had in using your methods?
How have you tested yourself to ensure the information you give is always correct? Because surely, you wouldn't like to subject anyone to information like that unless you were absolutely, 100% consistently correct - every time. Would you?"

Shall I go through step by step...hmm. Ok well, even this is a tricky one to answer, reason being is that previously when I was on the top of my form my 'Qi' was much stronger and it was built up with diligent training of around 8 hours a day with a very good mentor to guide me through. It has only been recently I have set upon my quest to regain this diminished Qi which is no easy feat considering the time element which I no longer have as much to spare, and I am no longer in contact with my mentor. It goes onto more details which do not answer your current question of what is it that I claim. What I can say right now is that I have an ability to 'look' into any given objects energy and pick up characteristics of it's nature. This I have come to know as 'scanning'. I can detect 'auras' and see multiple colours although this confuses me to as what it actually means. I know that a bright green aura is a healers colour, and purple is linked to a powerful source. Most common I see is yellowish and blueish. Reds are dangerous. Still something for me to work on. From time to time I am able to pick up on what people are saying in their mind, might be a specific word or phase. When I question the person about it they usually get quite scared after that and get a bit paranoid lol.
I'm good at this too. It's called 'intuition', and 'deduction'.
Yeah, I have cured myself of a few minor aliments such as fevers, muscle pains, headaches, period pains :s.
I am also good at this. It's called 'visualisation'. I used to do it all the time, imagining my cramps as a pin in my side, which I would mentally visualise myself pulling out and the pain would leave. I believe it's a form of self hypnosis, and nothing paranormal. I still retain the ability to a degree - after years of painkillers for various things, the drugs rarely work for me any more, and so I have to work myself to raise my body's tolerance and lower my reaction to pain.
As of lately, I have had the flu (which everyone hates!) but pulled myself out of it within 5 days back to full health.
A 5 days flu is unusual in itself - seems like you made yourself worse, instead of better!
Ok, with gut feelings, interesting enough this can be labeled as 'intuition' right? You don't know why but you just 'feel' something and you can't really explain why. The difference between what I can do and basic intuition is that I can clarify on this 'gut feeling'. I can do this a number of ways using some of the 'tools' I have listed above. You are absolutely right, I wouldn't say anything that I myself wasn't sure of, it's pointless and I can only offer a weak explanation. This is why if I am not sure from using one method of clarifying, I can use an alternative until I reach a 100% conclusion beyond reasonable doubt.

I don't understand the difference here between what you claim you can do, and gut instinct.
Also, I don't see an explanation here of how you test yourself. What verifiable information have you detailed, using whichever method you have at your disposal?

If I gave you some information - a name and perhaps a photo - could you tell me if the person is alive or dead?
That's basically what you say you have done for Jason.

"I can even suggest a few good popular science books for starters"

Please do!
Wonderful!

I would start with The Cosmic Code, by Heinz Pagels. All about quantum theory.

You might also try:
Perfect Symmetry (by the same author)

The Whole Shebang, by Timothy Ferris. Quantum cosmology (and another good author who's done several books worth pursuing).

One more (we'll keep this short):
The Elegant Universe, Brian Greene. Superstring theory.

You might discover, as many before you have, that the real world is tons more fascinating, unexpected, beautiful and mind-blowing than any dreamworld trumped up in the dreary imaginations of the "psychics".

. From time to time I am able to pick up on what people are saying in their mind, might be a specific word or phase. When I question the person about it they usually get quite scared after that and get a bit paranoid lol. Happens with images too, particularly when I focus, I definitely score higher than the law of averages every time, but after about three minutes I lose clarity and then I know I am taking a shot in the dark as opposed to visualizing in my minds eye.

Are you sure what you describe is a parnormal ability? In one of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories, Sherlock Holmes deduces quite accurately what Watson is thinking about by carefully observing which objects in the room that Watson looks at and Watson's expressions. Perhaps you are just good at reading body language.

I do hope you'll keep an open mind and consider a simple test or two.

Back from the abyss

If anyone would like to post pictures of people on this thread, I will be able to tell you if they are living or otherwise. For my own peace of mind, can you please be sure that you are certain of their current state without doubt.

Don't bother doing it here in the forum. That would just be game playing.

Simply demonstrate your paranormal claim, using the clearly prescribed method, and you will surely soon receive $US 1 million.

Thank you for the links to the books Ryan. I will look into them a.s.a.p :)

As to your question Kelly, yes there are a few different ways of getting the same results. The one I am most familiar with is looking at a photo of a random person and able to detect their energy. Another way is going through a second party who can visualize a person and I pick up the 3rd parties energy. The only other way I am currently aware of is just by being told someones name. The latter I have not had much experience in.

I did an online test some time ago where I was shown 100 faces one after the other and was asked to choose whether they are alive or deceased. I will try to find a similar test and post the stats. On average it takes me 20 seconds before I get an answer, but I do like to check least three times before I am certain.

If James Randi is in hospital at the moment, stupid question I know, but how do I get myself involved in the challenge. I emailed a couple of addresses supplied but haven't heard anything.

I really would love to be among a bunch of scientists to try out some different things they suggest. I look at this forum as the first step. Hell, if I can't last in here, I've got no chance out there. I say it again, the money is a good incentive to try for it, but it's not the bottom line reason for doing it. But no, that doesn't mean that I'm going to donate it to charity. I can see how that would be a really moral thing to do though, but unfortunately I'm not a saint and I too have bills to pay. Mind you, from all the publicity I would receive from pulling off such a feat, I guess I'd never have to worry about money ever again.

If you're wondering what kind of person I am, my motives, my dreams and ambitions, I have plenty. I know myself better than anyone and I also know that I am a positive person. I live in the real world and I study and attend uni like many worldwide. I will have my own business in design and architecture and I will succeed. What makes me so sure? Well, because I am not afraid to fail, and I am prepared to fail thousands of times before I get it right. I see this mentality every day in my uni and work. I love being able to prove myself right about what I say I can do, doesn't everyone?

Please, please, pleaseeeee don't confuse my confidence in my abilities with arrogance. That is not who I am.

Is it possible that James Randi is looking for a personal healer for his own aliments? This thought originally came to my mind the first instance I read he needed treatment. I'm actually curious now to find out why he is there.

Man, working 70 hours a week is taking it's toll on my feet. Gonna need some silicon pumped in there soon hehe. Night ya'll. Don't stress.

James Randi is not in the hospital at this time, and is doing quite well with his talented doctors and surgeons. However, if you wish to offer your services, please email him and post the reply for our amusement.
