From a blog I read yesterday: (offered as a response to a suggestion that HAMAS could be a force for positive direction for the Palestinian people) ---

Those same people you ill treat today will be your judge tomorrow and they will have no mercy. No one will come to your aid when we take you down and punish you with what you deserve. Jews are the cause of ALL evils in the world, take the jews out and see how peaceful earth can be. You are a curse on humanity and humanity needs to cleanse itself of your evil cult."


While at the same time, in Iran, (the main supporter of the HAMAS brand of insanity) we are treated to this gem:

  • Iranian President Ahmadinejad said "like it or not, the Zionist regime is heading toward annihiliation."
    "The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm"
    "The existence of the Zionist regime is tantamount to an imposition of an unending and unrestrained threat so that none of the nations and Islamic countries of the region and beyond can feel secure from its threat," Ahmadinejad expounded from the podium at an international conference formed by Iran to raise funds for the new Palestinian Authority of Hamastan.

Also Friday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on the Islamic world to support Hamas and its resistance against Israel.
"The Islamic world is obliged to help [Hamas] in all possible ways and support continuation of this holy path [of resistance against Israel]," Khamenei said in the opening ceremony of the event.

I ask here --- Where's this all leading?
 
I would love to get into the head of some of these insane people to get a glimpse of what and how their thought processes work. I can't figure out what their goal is other than power for power's sake.

Rob, which insanity would you like to explore in depth? The defective mentality of the average blogger/jihadist.islamonazis or the special brand of insanity demonstrated by leaders of nations/states/governments/religions?

Think of the Ku Klux Klan after our civil war.

Facing the tide of history and the inevitable decline of their power, they rise up, muster all the bravado they can, and proclaim their intent to subjugate the object of their racial hatred, the ones they blame for their declining status.

They mean every word and are just as dangerous as they would have us believe they are. Just like the Ku Klux Klan, it will be generations before they are put down, but in the end they will be.

And just like the Ku Klux Klan, initially they will have the support of like-minded sympathizers, but eventually they will be recognized for the wretched, hateful scum that they are.
 
Well, Mycroft, I agree that their mindset is almost exactly like that of the KKK.

Imagine the KKK having access, or near access, to nukes?

Really, that's what we're looking at in the not-so-far future. Of course, I'd suggest that the KKK was tame by their standards.

The problem with the analogy is the ideals of the KKK were against the law, which is why its supporters needed the robes with hoods. This Islamist ideology is very much the law in places, and is supported by powerful people with lots of money.

There's also the issue that the KKK was originally anti-intellectual and very classist; so that anyone with a substantial amount of money and/or education was looked on with just as much suspicion and distrust as minorities were, and prohibited from associating with the "pure" KKK. There were quite a few people in higher economic classes, as well as academia, who agreed with them on principle; but were alienated by the KKK's attitude toward them; which resulted in the KKK being generally viewed as a bunch of ignorant hicks. They never developed any real credibility with the racist intelligensia, at a time when such support would have been vital to accomplishing any of their goals.

Eventually that policy was rescinded; but by that point the damage was done. Their reputation as stupid white trash was cemented, and they were well into their decline; so there was no real strong organization left, just a lot of small groups that were generally seen as fringe-dwellers, lunatics, and cranks. Had it not been for their strict classism, they could easily have become an American Taliban, and a fairly effective terrorist organization, since popular support wouldn't have been hard to get, had they the money and influence that the intelligensia would have provided.

The radical Islamist organizations, on the other hand, have been created and led by the moneyed intelligensia; and therefore have the influence necessary to achieve a large number of converts from all stratas of their society with few, if any, negative associations.
