Merged Peace President invades Venezuela,/U.S. Forces Capture Maduro

Who is going to buy this Venezuelan oil if the biggest customers - Russia, China and Cuba - are going to be excluded?

USA? Already has a surplus (apparently...)

Europe? Does Norway know?

Saudi Arabia? ...seriously?
Well, if the Saudis sell theirs to the US, and the US sell theirs to the Saudis, it's what they call a win-win situation, isn't it? It is, isn't it?

Which do you think is more likely: China will attack Taiwan if it doesn't think the U.S. will come to Taiwan's defense or if it thinks that the US will come to Taiwan's defense?

Could you even try to have a serious conversation?

Putin annexed Crimea on Obama's watch, did nothing during Trump's first presidency, and the launched a full-scale war against Ukraine after Biden was elected. Why? Because Putin only tries to gain territory when he is confident that the U.S. will not respond militarily. Yeah, Putin is worried about what Trump could do, and he's more worried today than he was yesterday.

It's been a pleasure, as always, having a rational discussion with a TDS sufferer.
Obama did not attack Russia because the US has always had a policy of no direct conflict with Russia. Unlike 2022, Ukraine was not capable of defending itself due to many years of Russian interference in it's political system. Sanctions were imposed and Russia read removed from the G8. Trump wants to readmit Russia to the G8.

There is also the simple fact that the entire apparatus that kept Maduro in power is still there.
Trump acts as if the county has surrendered after his act of war.
But it is far more likely the next in line will step up.
If I were their government I'd prepare for the invasion by seeking to kill as many US soldiers as possible when they invade, then go for guerrilla warfare as the US cannot win against that.
In the meantime rig all the oil installations to blow so the US cannot use them anytime soon.
Exactly what I would do.
Leave the Invading Americans absolutely nothing.
Start a guerilla war and kill as many Americans as possible.
They will give up and go away in humiliation like they did in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

An occupation will not survive the flow of body bags.

Maduro stole the election in 2024 from the opposition, who won at least 70% of the votes. Maybe now that the U.S. has deposed him, the Venezuelan people will, for the first time in more than two decades of living under criminal dictators, actually be able to decide for themselves.
Except Donald has already said the US Army and oil companies will be in charge.

How long do you think the celebration will last when the US takes all the oil and money and starts shooting people?

Perhaps like Iraq.
"We will be welcomed as liberators."
"Mission accomplished."

So, just out of curiosity, who's running Venezuela today and when are they planning to hold fresh elections?
I have been told by Harry Belafonte that Matilda run Venezuela. Don't know who she is, though. Or he, possibly, if Matilda is his last name. I very much admired Mr. Belafonte as a child, and do not think he'd have lied to me, so there you have it; Matilda run Venezuela.

A BBC lunch news report has said that this supposed anti-narcotics operation, is just a cover for the US to gain control of Venezuela's oil.

From November

“A clan of pedophiles wants to destroy our democracy. To keep Epstein's list from coming out, they send warships to kill fishermen & threaten our neighbor with invasion for their oil."
Oh look, another narco commie doesn't like Trump.

it’s hard to walk away with any other conclusion after hearing trump’s own explanation of the situation

Reuters reported, "Venezuela is unlikely to see any meaningful boost to crude output for years even if U.S. oil majors do invest the billions of dollars in the country that President Donald Trump promised just hours following Nicolás Maduro's capture by U.S. forces. The South American country may have the world's largest estimated oil reserves, but output has plummeted over the past decades amid mismanagement and a lack of investment from foreign firms after Venezuela nationalized oil operations in the 2000s that included the assets of Exxon Mobil (XOM.N), and ConocoPhillips (COP.N),..."

I'm sure it does, to you. So how will you respond if elections happen as normal? Will you actually rethink anything?
