Trump's Second Term

A Sweet War.
Give me a FIFA peace prize.

Trump says we are preparing to invade Nigeria. Apparently that’s what voters said they wanted in the exit polls. Trump: “We’re going to do things to Nigeria that Nigeria’s not gonna be happy about. Guns-a-blazin!”

Trump: "If I didn't have tariffs, the entire would be in a depression."
The entire was doing just fine. The entire wasn't in a depression before you kicked the table over with massive protectionist import taxes to push prices up for Americans, in the hope that if stuff got expensive enough it would become viable to manufacture it in the US again.

The thing is, it wasn't even protectionist. Protectionist would be if America was producing the stuff, and the tariffs were introduced to prevent cheaper imports from abroad and ensure a market for local produce. American companies have consistently been offshoring their production for decades to shore up their profits and boost their share market standing. The orange imbecile did it out of spite and to "punish" those he thought insulted him.

Kinda glad we didn't have this clown trying to fix the Troubles in Northern Ireland with drone strikes.

What do you suppose it is about major oil producer Venezuela and major oil producer Nigeria that makes Trump interested in wading into those particular countries' internal problems?

They did it on purpose.

Trump: The only thing I got from the UN was a blank teleprompter. Remember I went up there, princess. I'm looking at the teleprompters and I have all my friends sitting out there. 158 leaders, some in beautiful silk white robes, others in bad shirts, bad ties, and some in beautiful shirts and ties, but they're all the leaders. I'm looking at the teleprompter, stone cold blank. They did it on purpose. It wasn't a great feeling. I'm trying to walk slowly because I see it's not working. They did it on purpose, but it worked out okay. Not great

The president saying that is not at all embarassing. Not at all.
Deaf people already have enough difficulty in life. Now they have to be subject to Trump's rantings?

I wonder if the Trump administration will hire that fraud who was famous for doing sign language for world leaders despite not knowing anything about it (and was basically just making random hand motions). Would seem to fit well with what Trump says.

On a side note, I have to admit I am surprised the need for sign language interpreters has not been supplanted by technology. They have voice to text interpreters that seem to be ok. (Not perfect, but perhaps accurate enough for the occasional speech, done in a room with no background noise and only one speaker)
Sign language uses facial expressions and body language almost as much as the actual sugns, so I'm not sure the technology is quite there yet.

And I'm just waiting for him to say, "And the invasion in February is going to be a secret!"

One of the things that's very difficult for the deaf (really deaf, not merely hard of hearing) is learning to read. Remember: letters represent sounds (more or less: they aren't exactly phonemes - less so in some languages (e.g. English) than others). That's just one of the reasons why deaf people use sign language instead of spelling boards.

Question to our bi or multilingual members from non-English speaking countries, how do they translate what Trump says?
I can only speak for myself: I don't! Why would I want to?

ETA: If I had to, I don't think it would be very difficult most of the time. It's not as if he uses an awful lot of fancy words that ESL speakers of English aren't familiar with - except when he makes up new words. In some cases, however, it would be impossible. I could translate the literal meaning of the words origins & oranges, for instance. In Danish it would be oprindelse & appelsiner. But since the words look and sound so different in Danish, it would be impossible for people to grasp what he was trying to say but couldn't.

As his mind is deteriorating, his language is reduced to a few standard phrases he uses all the time, like: "Most people don't know that." Or Trump's three magical words: 'People don't realize' (MSNBC, April 26, 2018)
Notice the date! It's not a new thing!
I think comedians are grateful for this. It's what makes Trump impressions so easy to do.

The top text reads Select all squares containing someone on the Jeffrey Epstein list. Bottom elements include a circular verify button with C icon and an RA verify badge.

President Trump is giving a major economic speech and CNN is not covering it live.

They don’t want their audience to hear President Trump’s pro-growth, America First economic vision!

Ahem, Karoline... Just a note for you.

Trump's speech will not be a "pro-growth, America First economic vision". It never is. It will be just another mumbled pile of hate-filled, half-finished sentences and random mouth-noises that are his his usual gripes and whines about imaginary people and things. It will be nothing whatever to do with economics or anything like that. Not even tangentially close. CNN broadcast what the rest of the USA wants to hear. The rest of the USA does DO NOT want to hear any more of Trump's insane, dementia-driven, hate-spittled drivel. He is not a ratings winner.

Y'know... Thinking about it, perhaps you should revise your resume about now. Nobody believes you believe any of this. Not one iota.
