Trump's Second Term

View attachment 65559
The day trump couldn't remember who he was.

If that ever happens (and it could at his current rate of mental decline), somebody should tell the fat clown he's Biden or even Obama, and then tell him all the nasty things the fat clown said about him.

I'd pay good money to see that.

Judge orders White House to use American Sign Language interpreters at briefings

A federal judge is ordering the White House to immediately begin providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation at its press briefings when President Trump or press secretary Karoline Leavitt are speaking.

"White House press briefings engage the American people on important issues affecting their daily lives — in recent months, war, the economy, and healthcare, and in recent years, a global pandemic," U.S. District Judge Amir Ali wrote in issuing a preliminary injunction on Tuesday. "The exclusion of deaf Americans from that programming, in addition to likely violating the Rehabilitation Act, is clear and present harm that the court cannot meaningfully remedy after the fact."

The White House stopped using live ASL interpreters at briefings and other public events when President Trump began his second term in January.

I feel sorry for any interpreter who has to try to unscramble the nonsense that spews from his mouth.

It's "bated". Short for "abated", meaning a pause in the breathing. Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice. The play by him, not that Shakespeare was himself a merchant of Venice. But I guess he could have been, if he had relocated there and started merchandizing. Action figures from his plays? The Hamlet Fun Time Play Set! Lady MacBeth hand cleanser! Othello cellos! My remarks, stupid though they are, are far more sensible than anything Trump's said in months.
I admire your views and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

They did it on purpose.

Trump: The only thing I got from the UN was a blank teleprompter. Remember I went up there, princess. I'm looking at the teleprompters and I have all my friends sitting out there. 158 leaders, some in beautiful silk white robes, others in bad shirts, bad ties, and some in beautiful shirts and ties, but they're all the leaders. I'm looking at the teleprompter, stone cold blank. They did it on purpose. It wasn't a great feeling. I'm trying to walk slowly because I see it's not working. They did it on purpose, but it worked out okay. Not great

For him today, it was just yesterday. Sometime next week, it will still be just yesterday. The 2020 election was just yesterday. Every ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ day for Trump is yesterday. Like all dementia patients, he's making the same new friends every day.

Deaf people already have enough difficulty in life. Now they have to be subject to Trump's rantings?

I wonder if the Trump administration will hire that fraud who was famous for doing sign language for world leaders despite not knowing anything about it (and was basically just making random hand motions). Would seem to fit well with what Trump says.

On a side note, I have to admit I am surprised the need for sign language interpreters has not been supplanted by technology. They have voice to text interpreters that seem to be ok. (Not perfect, but perhaps accurate enough for the occasional speech, done in a room with no background noise and only one speaker)

I know many of you don't believe or don't remember I was right all along about Trump, about the Goldwater Rule, about a lot more which I won't address here, but for those of you who do recognize it here is an important interview with Dr Bandy Lee who was also right from the beginning with a lot of insights about the situation. She doesn't come across as the most intellectual person at first but if you ignore that and listen to the whole interview with an open mind you will recognize that she does know what she is talking about and there is a lot to be learned from her and the interview.

I've said this before but what do the interpreters do with Trump's ramblings? He makes no sense in English in regard to meaning, they are grammatically all over the place, he can contradict himself in the same sentence, I do wonder if they end up "correcting" Trump so they can provide a translation.

Question to our bi or multilingual members from non-English speaking countries, how do they translate what Trump says?

He treats all his public speaking as a rally, if folk are lucky he'll sort of remember where he is and throw in a few sentences which sort-of relate to where he is speaking.

This time his handlers know how to get what they want out of him, distract him with decorating the Whitehouse and his ballroom and let him have his "rallies", that keeps him happy.

I don't see Trump to be particularly more demented than before: he is hard of hearing, has a poor memory and is uneducatable, but that has been the case since his Apprentice days.
It's just that his current Job requires so much more attention and mental agility continuously than him attending a few meetings and golfing the rest of his time, as was his life.

He was always stupid and ignorant but he could speak fluently and coherently in the past. Even compared to 2016 he's hell of lot more incoherent.

Those steps will be his downfall.
Trump: We had a guy who couldn't walk up a flight of stairs, he kept falling. You know on Air Force One, they say "sir, do you want the long stairs or the short stairs" I say give me the long stairs. I don't want the childrens' stairs.
Is he really complaining that he can't get up the shorter (and therefore steeper) stairs without someone pushing him?

he could probably talk your ear off about Golf or sexually assaulting women - stuff he has a lot of experience with.
All of this Government stuff is new to him, and he doesn't like learning about it.

Correction.he could talk your ear off about how wonderful he is at golf.
Probably couldn't tell you anything about the rules of the game.
