Face, meet leopard. Leopard, meet face.

Yep. They don't hate the immigrants because of [insert reasons], they come up with [insert reasons] to justify that they hate immigrants.
Same with LGBTQ people. People claim they hate them because of Pride and whatnot, but it's not as if they weren't also marginalized and hated before. I'm sure that if Pride was cancelled forever, if anything they'd see it as encouragement to be even more bigoted.

Shrugs …
I've heard it all my life in France and Switzerland… It is well known that immigrants are stealing (all the better) jobs, all the while doing nothing and living a life of comfort and idleness through social benefits; they're getting all the better housings, while congregating in the worst ghettoes and enjoying living in filth; their uneducated and non French/German speaking children are responsible for the decline in literacy and general education, all the while getting (being unduly awarded) better grades than the locals …
It's the same old song here in Sweden as well. I wish all immigrants would, could, go on strike for a week, so we could watch as this whole place grinds to a halt, but then the whole place would of course grind to a halt if they did, and a great many Bad Things would happen very quickly.

I arrived in Switzerland on a two-year work contract when I was 29 and nearly 30 years later I’m still there. I’ve been repeatedly told, though, that it’s OK because I’m one of the good immigrants.

I grew up in Switzerland, hearing that good immigrants came only from the north (that excludes France and Belgium but not Monaco). The southerners, those who built our roads and hospitals, gathered garbage, served in restaurants, repaired our cars, were by definition bad immigrants, filthy, uncivilised, eating strange food with too much spices, and unable to master Schwitzerdeutsch. They were only allowed to remain after someone reminded the Swiss voters who would have to take picks and shovels should they finally leave the hallowed motherland (1970, Schwarzenbach initiative to throw all foreigners out) …

Just like many other places.
Yes, but Vermont is a border state with a very active tourist industry that is used to catering to visiting Canadians. The trip from Montreal to Northern Vermont is short, and areas like the Champlain islands are pretty choice. Prices for some things are lower. Anyway, Vermonters have made a habit of visiting Canada, and vice versa, for many years, since the political boundary was once insignificant.

This may not be as significant as MAGAchud farmers going bankrupt because of tariffs, but hey, leopards should have a varied diet...

I had never heard of Theo Von before, but he is some sort of comedian/podcaster who seems to take a (more or less) pro-Trump attitude. (He does claim he doesn't support 'everything' the republicans do, but he attended Trump's inaguration.)

He once recorded a video clip of him saying "Heard you got deported dude... bye". And now he is upset because the Trump administration is using the clip in some of its propaganda.

Theo Von isn't happy after the Department of Homeland Security used a video of him to celebrate the Trump administration's deportations over the past year. "Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this," Von tweeted in response to the video....a clip of Von without context opens the video. "Heard you got deported, dude... bye," he said in the video, which then boasts a series of stats from Homeland Security

“it’s crazy to me that they would think this is OK,” Von said in a reply to a post praising his pushback. “What if someone attacks me tomorrow because they think I’m some final boss of deportatins or somethin [sic].”

Ummm, lets see:
- The Trump administration made its intentions to deport "everyone" clear during the 2024 election
- Trump has been known to "abuse" copyright (for example, using music in posts and rallies that the artists objected to.)
- Trump has engaged in rhetoric which could be seen as encouraging violence

Yet despite all that you decide to go to Trump's inaguration, and call it "inspiring". And now you're surprised and upset when the guy you supported does something you do not like.

Classic horror movie behavior: the mad scientist builds the monster, is greatly surprised when the monster attacks him and not just the villagers. The cultists never imagined the demon they summoned would eat their souls, too. Mariah Carey never expected treachery from her backup dancer. Every petard gets hoisted by the petard himself. Is that a bird? It sounds like a bird.

Curtis is a small town of about 900 people in rural southwest Nebraska. The Curtis Medical Center announced yesterday it is closing after more than 30 years. It is the only health care provider in the community.

They blame Trump's upcoming Medicaid cuts for the closure.

THE TOWN VOTED FOR TRUMP BY A 74 POINT MARGIN IN 2024.
