Cont: The thread for stupidity from GQP politicians who don't have their own thread Part II

A DHS spokesperson confirms to Scripps that Sec Noem had a large amount of cash on her that was stolen because her entire family was in town and she was using the withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts.

Umm, I am led to understand that even South Dakotans know about credit cards.

Color me skeptical about that explanation. Extremely skeptical.

According to the dog killer, she's a gang member.

By that standard, she must be a member of three gangs!

I think it's hysterical that Noem has Secret Service protection and is herself director of freakin' Homeland Security - and she and her crew could not keep her own damn purse secure knowing it contained $3K, her passport, DL, meds, DHS badge, apartment keys and, tragically, her makeup bag. She wears a lot of it, so maybe this is just for touchups and the heavy structural work is done at home.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a handgun in there. (This is innuendo, a practice I tend to avoid, but I'm learning how to do it because the radical rightists seem to love doing it. However ... in her case I actually would not be surprised).

To be fair, anyone can have a brain fart. I do, pretty frequently. I sometimes carry a purse, and occasionally I've had to carry fairly large sums of cash and my passport on my person. But the money/documents would be in a money belt or in a zippered pocket, preferably a hidden one. If it were in a purse, the purse would be worn across my body and if I was sitting it would probably be on my lap, not under a chair, hanging from a chair or wherever she had it.

I'm surprised the administration didn't suppress reports of this incident. The lack of situational awareness is not a good look on what amounts to a very high-ranking cop.

ETA: A couple of details.

Reportedly, the purse was under her chair by her feet. Neither she nor anyone at her table noticed the thief grab it? Nor did the freaking SS agents who were present and should have had their eyes on her? If someone could get close enough to steal her purse, they were close enough to try to kill her if they had wanted to. And if they can get that close to her, it doesn't say much for the ability of the SS to protect her or anyone else!

Given how much of a nasty, demanding ditz and liability Noem appears to be, perhaps her SS detail were "advised" to be "taking a pee & cigarette break" at a certain time. Because the missing $3G is not the real problem for her. Now she has majorly breached all sorts security requirements about her passport, driver's license, and particularly her DHS ID. And she is actual the government department head of Homeland Security, supposedly looking after the security of the whole country. What an absolute fail.

Doesn't look good for her... Is she going to be Hegsethed?

That would be funny if she was indeed set up.* But if she's replaced, we'll just get somebody at least as stupid. The whole Schitler administration is an absolute fail.

* Edited to add: I'm not a conspiracy type, but this whole thing smells so fishy and I'm so paranoid that it wouldn't take much more to believe that she was set up by somebody who wants her out.

"You could have killed the enemy security woman and caused disarray to their nation! Why didn't you?"
"Well, after observing her closely, comrade, I realized there will be more disarray to their nation if she were to stay alive and on the job."

As the face of the new America, where the default is to be presumed illegal, she should be ripe for a flight to El Salvador now that she can't flash her passport. Our fearless leader can release a video of her screaming and crying in shackles. As a loyal follower, she ought to provide him with the entertainment he so loves.

Or taken out to a convenient gravel quarry...

If Noem gets the flick, and Hegseth gets the flick...any bets on how soon RFK Jr. gets the memo?
"If" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that post.

Hegseth is brazening it out at the moment doing the usual MAGA thing of insisting that the well known facts are simply wrong and that everyone is out to get him - exactly as Trump does. As long as he continues to do this, Trump has no need to get rid of him.

Likewise with Noem, has she actually done anything not from the MAGA playbook ? Sure she's misplaced some IDs and a few dollars but it's not like she had an email server in her house which may or may not have had a few confidential emails on it.

It is a contraction of the phrase "I'm desperately hoping that if..."

Don't know about anyone else, but I would think failing but then lying brazenly and openly about that failing, while in the second-highest position in the military hierarchy, is hardly an honourable course of action befitting the US military. It's the sort of thing that would get officers dishonorably discharged on the spot. But Heggy, a former military officer himself, is going that route. What a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ arsehole. The uniformed folks must detest him...

Won't matter where her emails are now. Her ID alone could easily give access to a clever hacker...someone from, say, Moscow or Beijing or Pyong Yang may be able to do it. So yeah, typical MAGA playbook - being a useful moron for Pootie.

Are we sure she didn't . . yanno . . . just forget her purse?
