Well for one, it wasn't just one presidential term, it was 2 where the U.S. had a man-child as a president who was wrecking various agreements.

More importantly... its not just the president that is the issue. It is the fact that a large portion of the electorate (enough to give Stubby McBonespurs a majority in the electoral college) took a look at Trump (a man who, in addition to his personal failings and his incompetence at domestic issues, also made it clear he would start trade wars, go against various international agreements, and side with authoritarian strongmen over traditional US allies) and said "Yup that's the guy I want".

Trump isn't just a disease in itself. He is also a symptom of some deeper problems in the American electorate. If they are going to vote for Trump, what makes you think the GOP won't similarly fall in line behind a similar con-artist?

Yeah, you won't ALWAYS have a president who is an idiot, but alternating between competent/incompetent leadership is... not a good thing.

Ehh. Unfortunately, "Trump is being played" rests on assumptions that are not actually in evidence. Trump is in it for Trump. Trump is decidedly not in it for the US.
 
What is important about the NEw York case ti two of the resigning prosecutors are Conservatives, one having cleakred for both Rovters and Kavaugnah before they became supreme court jusitices.
But they are real conservatives, who beleive in the rule of law.
As for Adams, I suspect his career is over. No way will be get renominated by the Dems in NYC.

I intended Planigale's post to go first, but it didn't happen as I planned, and apparently there's no fixing it... I know 007 is MI6, dammit!
I really don't like this new forum setup... What used to work one way, doesn't now, or my brain's all messed up, or a combination of the two. I won't argue.
