The thread for stupidity from GQP politicians who don't have their own thread

Yeah, it's like when the batter swings at three pitches, misses all of them, has the umpire call him out, and the batter decides to advance to first base anyway. It's a clever tactic...

And the umpires are all partisan and they not only allow the batter to go to first, they instruct the official scorer not to record the strikeout as an out. It's clever, sportsmanship is stupid.

The problem with the Republican 'strategy' -- and this is no game -- is our laws, our system is predicated on people believing in our shared core values. The rule of law, majority wins, etc. The Republicans appear to be committed to taking power anyway they can. Our laws were not crafted for political parties that are committed, not to democracy, but only to gaining and holding power.

Decency, fairness, community, mutual respect. None of that matters. The only thing that matters is winning. Our system was not set up to deal with that kind of thinking. It's unAmerican.

Once again, this just shows how out of touch Dems are. This woman is quite zany...some might say crazy...but voters hate Dems so much they elected her again. But no, Dems...keep doing what you are doing and alienating voters.

I love it.

It's telling that if a Dem loses, they are out of touch. But when a Republican loses an election it's not because the Republican is out of touch...

If the recount shows that Bubba-rt lost, she'll use that as more evidence of the system being rigged.

It's possible on a dropped third strike. The batter swings and misses, but the ball gets past the catcher. The batter then becomes a runner racing to beat the throw to first. Rare, but entertaining when it happens, and isn't that what we want from our elections?

This one is not actually a serious bit of stupidity. It is a mildly amusing mistake, though.

Given Walker's history, it may feel a bit more like a Freudian slip, of course.

Watch Cruz's and Graham's faces closely at the point where Walker says "erection". The didn't miss it but Cruz just keeps on nodding like a bobble-head and Graham looks at him.

Some PR flack can't keep the accounts straight. This is on Texas senator John Cornyn's Twitter account:

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Happy Thanksgiving!

If the pitch is called as a strike, isn't the ball then dead? What you described sounds like the third strike was not actually called and the play continued.

Asking as a non-US baseball noob.

No. A dropped third strike allows the batter to try to advance.

In general, play is not dead based on the call at the plate. For example, a base can be stolen on a third strike as well. A player has to ask for "time" to be called.

It just shows how fundamentally trustworthy the GOP is, their (and Trump's) crimes are easily discovered showing that they're not very good at criming.

The Democrats' OTOH prove impossible to find which means they must be expert at committing them. ;)

That is kind of a necessary part of the CT mindset that the GOP seems to have adopted as policy, though- seeing the conspiracy as such a given that it's not possible, or even needful, to show evidence for it. "Voter Fraud" is like god- it's not an effect separable from the entity that produces it, it just is.

Maybe so, but some judges aren't having it.

Lake and Finchem's lawyers are getting sanctioned for "furthering a false narrative" after the judge threw out their lawsuit.
