Alex Tsakiris has released a new book based on his podcasts:

Why Science Is Wrong...About Almost Everything Paperback – November 21, 2014
by Alex Tsakiris (Author), Rupert Sheldrake (Foreword)

Alex Tsakiris has interviewed many bestselling authors and dozens of world-class academics on his popular science podcast Skeptiko.com. In this book he shares with us what he's learned through his 200 plus interviews with some of the world’s leading consciousness researchers and thinkers. In doing so, he reveals what the best research is saying about “big picture” science questions and the limits of science in general. What's he's learned, in short, is that science-as-we-know-it is an emperor-with-no-clothes-on proposition. It mesmerizes us with flashy trinkets, while failing at its core mission of leading us toward self-discovery. Science is wrong about almost everything because science depends on our consciousness being an illusion—and it’s not!

Some of the positive reviews come from people who are members of skeptiko forum or were also guests in the podcast itself which I find quite strange:

The core mission of science is "leading us toward self-discovery"?

No. Science has no 'mission'.

Quote from Dr. Donald

Again, this idea of karma—Newton identified karma. That’s Newton’s third law, for every action, there’s a reaction. So it happens in the grossest forms of physical matter and it happens all the way up through the psychological and spiritual levels that we exist at. Those are kind of the practical things that I focus on now.

And from Sharon:

The central chapters of the book—those dealing with near-death experiences, mediumship, telepathy, psychic detectives, and energy healing—had me on the edge of my seat. Tsakiris does a great job of bringing together the most important, paradigm-shifting moments in Skeptiko interview history and, by putting them back to back, showing us just how solidly the data stack up against a materialistic worldview. Even though I’d previously listened to these interviews on the Skeptiko podcast, I found myself reminded of crucial—and astonishing—details that had slipped my mind. The case for expanding our current scientific paradigm is really amazingly strong

Looks like science all the way!!:covereyes:eye-poppi:eek:

Here is a review of the book from the Society for Psychical research they were also not very positive about it which is odd because of what the society believes in:

http://www.spr.ac.uk/publication/why-science-wrong-…-about-almost-everything

The author's reply to that review is sadly hilarious.

He states: "Science is a method not a position statement, so it can’t be right or wrong in the way the title suggests…".
Then, only a tiny bit later, he apparently forgot what he was thinking and goes on how wrong science is: "Science is wrong about who you are …".
Supposedly, his 'who you are' descriptors are the "almost everything" from the title

His response to that review is in effect a rather obvious indication to not take the contents of the book too seriously.

If the author's impotent method was science, we'd still be hammering on stone slabs like Fred Flintstone.

Dude's a douche. I hope he declares himself a republican candidate so he can be part of the next debate. He should fit right in.
