Not finding another thread on this, so I thought I'd post something.

Michael Brown was walking, unarmed, with his friend when he was stopped by a policeman. What happened next is in dispute, but his friend says he was shot in the back while running away.

Protests have been ongoing.

An interesting side note is that many on the right have stated that they oppose the jackboot of the government and support people like the Bundy ranch militia who stand up against the police who harass people just wanting to live life unmolested. Yet here are a group of people doing just that, and the reaction from the right is...well...what you'd expect.

They are pack animals..

[…]

And normally, rabid animals are put down for the safety of all.

[…]

A pack animal has a legitimate use -

[…]

I agree since these people are animals and only react if it’s a white person who does the deed.

[…]

Any chance to riot, loot, vandalize, steal these animal blacks will do it.

[…]

***** animals. Where is Obama? Oh right, I forgot about the vacation. Where is Holder? Where are Jesse and Al? Why are none of them calling for calm?

[…]

These are the Obama people. Animals with no values other than take and destroy.

[…]

The pack animals sure do love to loot, just like Obama loves to loot our tax dollars.

[…]

Would shouldn’t insult ‘pack aniamls’ - or animals at all for that matter. What do you think chimps and apes have devolved from?

[…]

And people wonder why there are ghettos………

[…]

Those ‘Ghettos’ used to be good neighborhoods until guess who moved in.

[…]

Wait till the EBT cards quit working.

[…]

Typical black animal reaction; violence, looting, vandalism. And they wonder why blacks are viewed so poorly.

[…]

… it’s hog boiling time.

[…]

Blacks never miss an opportunity to riot.

[…]

genetics run amok..

They oppose the jackboot of the government coming down on people like themselves; good Christian men and women.

Now, looting businesses and going after people who had nothing to do with the shooting is stupid. They should direct that anger and violence at the police.

So what would you say is the proper response to using the protests as an opportunity to steal Nikes?

Well, I'm here in St. Louis, and the situation has grown from a locally-reported incident to a nationally-covered one with the FBI and the usual actors (like Sharpton) stepping in.

The facts are indeed in dispute. According to what information has been released by the police department involved, the victim started the confrontation by shoving the police officer back into his car, and then a struggle for the officer's gun ensued. The victim was likely shot once during this altercation.
Then, the victim exited the car and was subsequently shot outside of same.

Witnesses (or people purporting to be witnesses) have claimed that the individual was some distance from the officer and had raised his hands when he was shot. He was unarmed.

The police department (Ferguson MO) has not released further statements.
The FBI has stepped in and is actively soliciting cell-phone camera or other video footage from possible witnesses.

The young man's body lay in the street for some hours as the crime scene was processed, further provoking the crowd of onlookers. Another department (St. Louis County) was called in to conduct the investigation.
A "vigil" put together for the night of the shooting turned violent and several businesses were looted, burned, etc.
There have been subsequent incidents in areas outside of the small municipality where the shooting occurred. A shoe store was looted in South St. Louis last night, many miles from the area of the shooting.
We have been informed that the department is putting together an extra-patrol detail for the coming week. Also, the FBI is cautioning that a couple of large area shopping malls may be targeted for looting/vandalism....

The parents have appealed to the community with the message that they don't want their son's death to be tarnished by the specter of criminal acts and violence.

So what would you say is the proper response to using the protests as an opportunity to steal federal land?

Either way, I'd venture to say that the proper response is not to hurl racial epithets. You?

The guy the victim was with tells a very different story. But I'm pretty sure forensics will clear things up as the investigation goes along. If Brown was shot in the back from some distance away, this officer ought to be charged with murder.

I agree on the looting part, but I'd also note that it's unclear that the people protesting the shooting are the same people doing the looting and vandalism. Lumping them all together is exactly what the Breitbart people are doing with such class.

Ironic, isn't it, that although they may be two distinct groups the behavior of the dead boy seems to indicate he would be more likely to be throwing a Molotov cocktail than holding a candle.

What is the name of the officer who shot Michael Brown?

I am going to wait for some more facts rather the engage in an attempt to automatically shoehorn this into ideology based narrative . Other wise knows as 'I Have Already Made Up My Mind, Don't Confuse Me With Facts".
Amazing how many people who probably think of themselves as rational thinkers so blindly perceive reality through the lenses of a political ideology.

The very foundation the SJW clubhouse is built upon.
