I published something without a co-author once in a college math journal. Perhaps there was someone in there who was connected to Erdos somehow in someway.

Diamond and EvitlYeti,

I know there is a running feud going on between the two of you, but I would like to make a sincere request that you not derail threads by initiating off-topic attacks on each other, like Diamond has done here. Although EvilYeti posted the perfect setup for Diamond's flame, it serves no purpose to the topic of this thread to take the bait here.

Instead, perhaps you could start a new thread and provide cross-links for those who are interested in spectating the feud between the two of you. (By cross links I mean that in the new thread, quote the bait and provide a link back to the thread where it was posted, and then in the original thread where the bait was posted, post a reply with a link to the new flame thread you started.) This way you can continue your feud with each other without derailing the original thread.

At this point in this thread, it doesn't matter which of you moves the feud to another thread, but I know both of you are honorable enough to go first and show Paul the respect he deserves.

As an example of what I mean, I have started a new thread for your pleasure:

Feel free to use that thread (or start one of your own) to post further flames of each other and help minimize the noise in Paul's Erdos thread. Paul deserves better treatment than to have his thread hijacked by your feud.

If I reply its a running feud. If I don't, a troll claims "victory"

Why bother? Since the entire purpose of the JREF forum is to attack one another's views and everyone else enjoy the spectacle, why stop now?

Unfortunately derailing threads is always a threat when moderation-well-after-the-fact is the paradigm.

I have no idea why Paul needs your intervention. I have had lots of threads derailed by you and a kaleidoscope of trolls in the past, and have no reason, then or now, to take lessons in civility from you.

So its my fault for posting a "perfect" setup now? By merely telling the truth that one of my best friends actually invented the whole thing? And I'm a bad guy for countering Diamonds juvenile slander of my friend?

This warrants paragraphs of your usual self-righteous drivel? If you have a problem with Diamond following me around and derailing threads with his usual garbage complain to the admins. Or ignore it. Just stop with the goddam preaching. No one cares.
