Yet Another Truther 'Assault'

This time by WeAreStalkers Ireland. The camera didn't 'break' at the crucial point as it did in the Lovetro/Talis altercation but it's hard to tell exactly what happened.

From BBC News:

Irish former minister Proinsias de Rossa was knocked to the ground after a public meeting in Dublin on Monday night, according to the Labour Party.

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said the MEP was confronted by a group of men who screamed abuse at him before knocking him over and pinning him down.

Police confirmed the attack which left Mr de Rossa bruised and shaken.
---
In his statement Mr Gilmore said a minority of people had tried to disrupt the meeting, using "ugly and intimidatory" tactics and shouting abuse through a loud-hailer.

Looks to me like de Rossa thought he was surrounded by hooligans and made a break for it and tripped.

I still call assault on the troofers. They aggressively got into his face with a camera, and were basically meanacing him and he tried to get away and he injured himself. While probably not assault in the criminal sense it would be good for a lawsuit against the people involved.

And to answer their question. You have a right to question public officials, but not shove a camera down their throat and try to intimidate them.

I find it inconclusive. The camera angle doesn't show what might have been going on just before he ran. It's quite possible there were "threatening gestures" but you can't tell from the video. It's also possible that what appears to be the questioner shouldering him toward the wall a couple seconds before (to which he responds by putting his hand on the questioner's shoulder and crossing outside) constitutes sufficiently threatening gestures.

From nolo.com:
Assault - A crime that occurs when one person tries to physically harm another in a way that makes the person under attack feel immediately threatened. Actual physical contact is not necessary; threatening gestures that would alarm any reasonable person can constitute an assault.

I consider myself a reasonable person and I certainly would have been alarmed, but sometimes the meanings of simple words like "alarm" can be misleading in legal definitions. Bottom line is, I think there's a reasonable chance (though I'm not a lawyer) that the legal definition of assault that would have been applicable in the U.S. was met.

Which also means -- think about this, kiddies -- that if he'd hit his head while falling and died as a result, we'd have our first truther manslaughter (if not third-degree murder, or whatever the Irish equivalent is) right now.

Respectfully,
Myriad

From the video

"Sovereignty will prevail Sir"

What a load of bollocks uttered from that wee *****. What I noticed is the fact they don't let the video run and show what happens next. Did they help the MEP up? And all it does is "suggest" what occurred using the heavy handed titling. As to the ending, are they suggesting that the media is controlled, by linking to article on the Irish Daily Mail, a reactionary British blow in paper? FFS.

Any bets as to how long until one of their victims goes Buzz Aldrin on one of the CT stallkers?
And I will not blame the guy who does ....

Well as long as they pick on the disabled and elderly (De Rossa is 67 and due to retire later this year).

Honestly handicapped children and pensioners, are the kinds of foes the truth movement faces daily!

I disagree. Where is the rest of the footage? The cameraman shut off the camera at the exact moment de Rossa fell? I find the 'editing' to be convenient to the Truthers once again.

Quoted for posterity.

Nice to see you deciding to stick with your twoofer brethren, no matter how low they sink.

You're wrong. Tweeter will sink even lower.
But I have come to the conclusion that Tweeter is not even a sincere truther but a Troll pure and simple.
