A friend of mine is looking for the unit her grandfather served in during World War II and I was hoping someone here might be able to help her out. She has the following information Truppenteil: 3. Kp.le.Radf.StrmBau Btl. 308 I'm guessing Kp is the third Korps and BTL is battalion but the latter is just a WAG on my part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kp = Kompanie
Radf = Radfahr, that's wheeled I guess
StrmBau is likely StrBau, Straßenbau, building of roads

I'd say after a brief look, being no expert, this is it, Bau-Bataillon 308, active only from August to October 1939.

I do recall her saying that he never made it back from Russia (Barbarossa maybe?).

Luftwaffen-Bau-Kompanien 1. - 14./III were formed in 1939. The companies were used to form Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillone 301 to 311 in early 1940. They were renamed in 6.40:

[..snip..]

Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 8./III

Formed 6.40 from Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 308 with 3 companies. 1945 in Luftgau I (Ortelsburg)

[..snip..]

Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 8./IV

Formed in 1940 with 3 companies (later 4 coys).1944 in Vitebsk. 1944 renamed Luftwaffen-Pionier-Bataillon 12.

[..snip..]

Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 8./VII

Formed 3.40 with 3 companies. 1.43 at Rossosch (Donbend). Absorbed the remnants of Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 4./VII and 9./VII. Ended the war in Luftgau VII.

They did a lot more than build roads. They were assault pioneers.

Radfahrschwadron = cycling squadron. I assume this was reconnaissance too.

Sturmbann [plural: Sturmbanne]: Battalion. Used by SA and SS units until 1940. See also Standarte above.

Most likely though .....

Sturmpionier: Assault Engineer.
