I am trying to find relevant information on the specifics of the collapse. I could have sworn a few years back there was info about how the exterior collapse initiated on the south side (damaged side) before the north. Anyone know if this exists or where to find it?

There are several threads on that; I'm just struggling to remember what search terms to use to bring them up. I can tell you this, though: It's not all going to be in one thread. That's just the nature of the conversations here.

Here's one I was able to find:
http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109833

Here's another that picks over a video that shows a "slump" to the south. It's very short, though:

At 6 posts, it doesn't have a heck of a lot of info, but on the plus side, Gravy (one of the participants) provides a figure from the NIST report showing the moment frame for the perimeter columns. You have to work a bit to apply the diagram to the collapse video, but in spite of the dramatically short length of the thread, there's info in that diagram that provides info for the video.

The David Chandler finds free-fall thread might also have some info:
http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128194

There's some info regarding the collapse details in this thread, but you sort of have to wade through a fair amount of chaff to get at the wheat:
http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134954

There are other threads. I think what needs to be done is to search for the report names - NCSTAR 1A and NCSTAR 1-9 - as well as look around for other threads post publication (when was that published? Jan. 2009, something like that?).
