RadioShack put up a new website a few weeks ago (http://rsinventionlab.com) targeted at showing off small electronics projects you can do using parts available in stores. In addition users can share their own projects.
I was browsing the site to see if anything interesting had been posted and ran across this bit of woo regarding batteries:

Hanni said:I found out about this on another website and was a bit skeptical, but it really works! Basically, you take your dead alkaline batteries and connect them positive to positive. The small amount of charge left on the batteries gets combined after prolonged contact. It’s best to hold the batteries together with electrical tape because they recharge faster. It’s called electrical tape because it helps conduct electricity. Of course the best batteries to try this on are Radioshack Digital Plus Alkalines, so run out to your local Radioshack today and buy some. I hope you all have fun getting more life out of your batteries!
