That said, ho-hum... a 50 year old virgin keeping his penis pristine for Jesus, and who's been a life-long member of a misogynistic club with a long history of hate-speech against women... turns out to not 'get' women either. Now that's a surprise
In other news,
KKK members are still biased against blacks *, Neo-Nazis still have crazy myths about the Jews, the sky is blue, water is wet, bears crap in the woods, and surprisingly enough the pope is still a Catholic
On a more serious note, seriously, you have an organization whose dogma is still based on some highly misogynistic ancient books, and whose dogma still blames all women for being basically Eve. And creates an implicit failure for not being -- in fact, not even theoretically being possible to be -- a fictive Miss Perfect like Mary. It's an organization who OFFICIALLY doesn't allow women to progress past some jobs, to the extent that even NUNS have to be effectively led and confess their sinful fantasies to a male priest.
I.e., an organization that would be hit by equality laws like by a train anywhere in the western world, if they weren't allowed to hide behind 'it's religion'. Can you imagine any secular organization pulling an 'oh, we only allow women as receptionists, because it's our dogma and our founders' view that they're not good for anything else?'
And can you imagine the kind of person who not only chose to join it, but spent decades preaching that dogma? A guy who every other weekend HAS to obsess about the impossible standard set by Mary, and to which implicitly no other woman can aspire? And not just that Mary was that good, but that it took an act of God to make a woman good enough and free enough of that icky womanly sin for his son to come out of her pussy? Because God knows there wasn't even possible to find one without a miracle?
No, really, that's what the immaculate conception
means. All women are sinners, and God had to intervene and create a good enough one. And it's not just official dogma, but an infallible ex-cathedra pronouncement of doctrine. I.e., it can't be changed even by a pope any more.
Does it really come as a surprise that when he opens his mouth, something like that comes out?
I mean, geeze, it's hard to even open than holy book at his to prepare a sermon without running into some opinion that women are second class and icky. What's the guy supposed to do? Take his own bible and church fathers as a bunch of nutcases who didn't know what they're talking about?
