Yeah, yeah, my computer is that old. Anyhoo, on another board I live at, I'm helping to start a new section and want to work a lot off line and then email it. Yes, I'm this computer stupid. What I need to is how to email that. I figured out once, but for the life me, I can't remember how I did it. SOS!!! HELP!!!!

I'm pretty confused. There never was a Windows 97. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME.

And i have no idea what the rest refers to. A new section of what -- a bb forum? Email what -- text, web pages? You appear to have a laptop and want to work on something offline. What? word docs, html pages, e-mail?

What e-mail software do you use?

You are so right! Like I said, I'm computer stupid. Let's try this again...

I've got Windows 98 and will be using Word documents and need to send what I type to the recipient for a new section of a website. Can I send what I create offline to the person via email even though I will be creating this offline and how do I it? The person I send this to will be putting it on the website, not me. Does that help?

First of all ensure that your recipient can read the word doc and doesn't want it as a html file or a plain text file.
If he wants that, then it's as easy as simply choose Save As and then choose the correct format. Note: If (s)he wants a text file, make sure to choose the format with layout (I think it's called "MS-DOS text with layout/linebreaks").
You can now send it as an attachment. I think the easiest for you would be to get a free email account online like mail.yahoo.com and use that.
Under the to-from-subject areas you can find a button called "attachments". The rest is easy and well described.

If you have a socalled POP-3 account, you can use a program called Thunderbird from http://www.mozilla.org which is freeware and a great deal better than Microblows equvalent. You'll need to configure an account in the program, but there is an excellent helpfile and wizard for that.

Yep. Pretty much just use Word to type up what you want and save it to a file on your local computer. When you get connected to the internet you should be able to use your mail program to send the file to the receipiant as an attachment. After starting a new message there should be an option for attaching files to the message. Might be under the File... menu, but there is usually a button with a paperclip on it that does the same thing.

Note that web pages use the HTML file format, if you use a lot of formatting/fonts/etc... in the Word doc they probably won't translate over to HTML very well. If the Word file is just going to be downloaded by people then it isn't a big deal (but you want to stick with Windows built-in fonts.)

I do this often for certain things, and if there is no complicated formatting involved, I usually save the file as a plain text file. Text files are easy to transmit, allow the recipient to read them in notepad or other programs if the prefer, or Word if they prefer. Some email and virus programs seem to balk at Word files.

I second the suggestion of Mozilla Thunderbird.
