I read where this is a distinct possibility. There are problems with battery disposal but overall I believe electric cars are better for the environment.

Batteries should be able to be used in static storage.

We have had an electric car for 7 months now, a Renault Zoe with a 40 kWh battery. My wife and I accepted that it would be a compromise as it has a range of around 140 - 180 miles. It will go back in early 2021 and will be replaced by a car with around 300 miles range.
