Why (some) Conservatives Hate Sean Hannity

Not sure if I should post this in Humor or in Politics, but since it isn't written by Peter David I decided to go with the latter.

I've recently begun visiting Daily Kos every day or so to check in on the Jeff Gannon story they've been investigating, and while there today I spotted this very funny item in a diary entitled "Confessions of a Former Dittohead: Why We Hated Sean Hannity".
... Another great moment in punditry came when Sean claimed Democrats were endorsing the torture of children by opposing the war. Seriously! My dittohead business partner and I still laugh about it. During one of his beat-down segments with some poor, outgunned Democrat he had an exchange that went something like:

Hannity: "Saddam Hussein was torturing children. You opposed the war. Therefore you support the torture of children. Why do you support the torture of children!

Guest: "Um...I don't think..."

Hannity: "Answer the question! You're not answering the question!

Guest: "I'm trying to..."

Hannity: "ANSWER THE QUESTION! WHY DO YOU TORTURE CHILDREN!!!"

Coulter: "She's avoiding the question, Sean."

Cameron: "I don't think she's going to answer you, Sean."

Hume: "It's a simple question."

Colmes: "Why won't you answer his question?"

Guest: "HEY! I thought you were supposed to be on my side?"

Colmes: "No, the show doesn't work that way."

Edited to remove Hannity's final line, because I think Colmes' line is funnier and don't want to detract from it.

Another example of this mindset...

Last night, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's excellent investigative news program, "the Fifth Estate," broadcast a one-hour special on the hijacking of the American media by conservative bullies -- whose knowledge of foreign policy seems to run the gamut from A to B and tends toward scream-o-ramas in which dissenters are accused of being unpatriotic.

Coulter: "Canada used to be one of our most loyal friends and vice-versa. I mean Canada sent troops to Vietnam - was Vietnam less containable and more of a threat than Saddam Hussein?"
McKeown interrupts: "Canada didn't send troops to Vietnam."

Coulter: "I don't think that's right."

McKeown: "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam."

Coulter (looking desperate): "Indochina?"

McKeown: "Uh no. Canada ...second World War of course. Korea. Yes. Vietnam No."

Coulter: "I think you're wrong."

McKeown: "No, took a pass on Vietnam."

Coulter: "I think you're wrong."

McKeown: "No, Australia was there, not Canada."

Coulter: "I think Canada sent troops."

McKeown: "No."

Coulter: "Well. I'll get back to you on that."

I'm glad you all have so much spare time and such an abiding interest in those folks, that you not only keep up with what they say, but apparently hang on every word...I'm sure their sponsors, and their bankers are glad too.

actually heard the clip on Air America radio (the liberal-biased network) a week or two ago and I just googled for the transcript of the call. Didn't require that much spare time and I didn't have to add to Coulter or Hannity's ratings. I don't watch Coulter or Hannity. They're liars whose pants are on fire.

My favorite Hannity spiel, the "will you repudiate the tactics of this person?".

I honestly don't comprehend how his radio show does well except that it comes on after Limbaugh in most markets.

Unfortunately I am sometimes obliged to watch him and Colmes on TV since they occasionally have guests I would like to hear.

A lot of people bash Colmes for letting Shawn bully the guests. I think its a good tactic. To me Shawn always looks like a bore who has no real arguement. Why bash Colmes for not being an equal bore?

Colmes really is a talented broadcaster. If he had a prettier face I bet he could have his own TV show. Heck, I wish his radio show was carried in this area.

Me: You supported the war. In wars, our troops die. That means you want our troops to die. Why do you support the execution of our troops!?

;)

These folks all sound like second rate Joe Pyne and Alan Burke imitators...have they had any 65 year old vets go over the desk after them yet?

It is bread and circuses for the masses...if they didn't have people from the other side faithfully tuning in to be outraged, they wouldn't draw enough to be where they are.

Oh, and as far as the Vietnam comment, I suppose it all depends on what you mean by 'Canada'.
;)

Wow that's severely stupid. She could, of course, just ask any Canadian. :P

Count me as one of the conservatives who don't like Sean Hannity. I have never heard his radio show, but I've seen him on Fox, and he does indeed make Colmes look good.

I've read one, maybe two, Coulter articles on the net, and seen her once, maybe twice, on TV. Don't have much of an opinion except that she has nice, long hair and in my single days I wouldn't have kicked her out of bed for eating crackers.

What else would she be doing there? :p

(Thanks Normy)

Hannity is such a jackass! I cringe when I hear his mindless rants and badgering of guests. He makes O'Reilly look quite moderate by comparison.

Oh, I thought the highlight of the evening was when O'Reilly called the Globe & Mail , "the Havana Times". We missed the next two minutes we were laughing so hard. For those that are unfamiliar with Canadian media, the Glob and Snail is the conservative (note the small "c") national newspaper. They are, however, pretty fair in their coverage.

They made O'Reilly cry, naughty CBC

O'Reilly is a moderate, like it or not. He just leans Right more often than not. He took the position that the Colorado professor who spoke out in favor of the 9/11 attacks, should not be fired from his job when all the Republicans were calling for him to be lynched.

Anyway, I kind of like Hannity (except his pro-religion garbage) but still found that funny. It's funny because it's soewhat true.

Now that's funny.

Canadian political spectrum for the rest of you:

Socialism....NDP......Liberals.....old PC party ... Reformatories... old Reform.... Stalin..... O'Reilly
......................................^ ....^ ................................^
.......................... European ..Canadian ................American
............................. centre ....centre .......................centre

Wow, are the Military Order of Canadian Vietnam Veterans going to be surprised to hear about this!

Do you support invading North Korea? No? Then you obviously support communism. Why are you a communist, you communist?

Moron.

Um, dude, those guys are folks in Canada who fought for the US in Vietnam. If you look at their "About Us" pages, it says specifically:

Members of the Armed Forces of Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand and the United States are eligible to request consideration for membership.

Canada did not send troops to Vietnam.

Hmm, I misspelled "somewhat".

maybe Peptoabysmal could take a page from Ann Coulter's book: Coulter: "Well. I'll get back to you on that."
