Why does Mel Gibson hate Jews?

If anyone has ever had a rational reason to be publicly antagonistic towards jews, I think it's Mel Gibson. The world has compensated him with hundreds of millions in dollars in part for it. And I'm sure any profit participants in Apocalypto are hoping for him to do his worst. I'm not sure even the film industry, which I think is still struggling to top last year's box office gross, would privately object to his latest manuevers regarding Jews.

I knew Gibson's dad was supposedly crazy, but wikipedia's article has revealed to me exactly how crazy he really is.

Hutton Gibson is a Traditionalist Catholic. He goes farther than many, however, embracing Sedevacantism. He has also stated that the Second Vatican Council was illegitimate due to the heresies it produced, and that it was the result of a secret anti-Catholic plot orchestrated by both Masons and Jews. It has been incorrectly claimed that Hutton Gibson holds to the Siri Thesis.

Because Gibson's views are consistently critical of the Jews, and is a proponent of bizarre and historically false conspiracy theories about the Jews and their role in history, Hutton Gibson is widely considered to be an anti-semite.

Gibson also holds to the claim that the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were not carried out mostly by Muslims aboard the plane, but rather were carried out by "remote control" by Zionists.

Holocaust denier + 9/11 CT kook + hardcore religious = he needs to post at JREF

I wonder if he believes in homeopathy?

A 6 fingered Jew killed his father.

"And when I was strong enough, I dedicated my life to the study of anti-semitism. So the next time we meet, I will not fail. I will go up to the six-fingered jew and say, "Hello. My name is Hutton Gibson. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

If you're suggesting that TPOTC was an exercise in public antagonism toward Jews, I disagree (my review of the film is here).

This police blotter story is weird, though.

Yeah, I forgot what page that was on in his autobiography. Thanks!

No, not at all. But I do think that baiting the ADL was a clever way to generate enough of the right, ticket-selling publicity to turn a low budget jesus film into one of the great blockbusters of all time.

Oh, but before the ROUSs right?

Exactly, before the Rabbis of Unusual Size.

Andre the Giant note - Wikipedia cites Rob Reiner as claiming "When André was young, he could not fit on a normal school bus and had to be driven to school. As his parents were unable to afford a car of their own, his neighbor, famed playwright Samuel Beckett, drove him every day."

Andre the Giant and Samuel Beckett? Weird world.

It was still a pretty funny movie, though.

I'm thinking...an apology for the drunk driving, but not the anti-semitic (and let's not forget sexist) remarks.

His repeatedly claiming "My life is f-cked" doesn't give the average person any more sympathy for Mel Gibson than anti-semitic comments do, I'd wager.
