Who here supports Herman Cain and why?

It is a bit of a mystery to me why he has so much support. One guess is White Guilt. I doubt it is the 999 plan or his business achievements.

Given the options, it is understandable.

That said, I figure your views on race probably color your perception in this matter.

I’m sure it does. That is why I wanted some feedback on Cain.

A lot of conservatives seem to think that having a black man oppose Obama lends them credibility. It has nothing to do with "White Guilt". That term is one created by racist conservatives to fabricate an explanation for why any whites would ever vote for a black. The thought that it might be based on their qualifications is completely beyond their capacity.

I am curious, are you one of those people that consider black people to be inferior?

And fair warning before you get in to deep, MaGZ stands for Missiles at Ground Zero. It's a creamy racist frosting on a delicious conspiracy cake.

I seriously doubt it is white guilt. I'd bet it is no more than wishful thinking.

I support Cain because he's an African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice looking guy.

The Democrats won with a black guy in 2008 so the Republicans are going to try running a black guy in 2012. It doesn't mean they actually like him.

The GOP has to have their version of Obama to parade around. Cain isn't the least bit qualified to lead this country but due to his usefulness as a stooge the GOP constituency has anointed him "the guy to beat". He may be good as an economic adviser (I don't know) due to his business background but I certainly don't see anything compelling about him that gives me the impression he'd be a competent President. There's far more to being a President then solving economic issues.

Prior to Obama's tenure there is absolutely no way a candidate whose most touted (political or non-political) accomplishment was owning a restaurant chain would ever be entertained as being a viable Presidential candidate and a black one nonetheless? Are you kidding me?? Obama's opened the door for unqualified african american restaurant owners. :boxedin: ;)

As I mentioned in another thread, Cain would have zero political capital if he were white. Oddly enough his being black is an asset (which could never be said prior to Obama) because it allows voters to ignore his incompetence in favor of choosing an adversary for Obama. He's the GOPs Bizzaro to combat Obama's Superman (and no, i'm not actually comparing Obama to superman lol).

It's the "please, god, anyone but Romney" crowd for the most part it seems.

Perry drops like a rock and Cain gets a surge.

Coincidence?

One guess is White Guilt.

I think it's the same thing that gave Perry his bump to the top of the polls (and Cain isn't consistently at the top of the polls): the "somebody else" phenomenon.

ETA: What willhaven said.

I saw what you did there. Chuckled.

Depending upon who "they" is, that seems plausible.

Cha-Ching.

Get this man a cigar.

Herman is on CNN now and wants to include food and clothing in his 9% sales tax. This is truly a southern idea of keeping the poor people "in their place".

It's unfortunate that Americans can't comprehend what a regressive tax is...

In my travels, southern states like to tax the groceries to keep the poor people "in their place".

Malcom X would call Herman a House Negro.
