Of all the contenders which one would be the most likely to defund the EPA?

What would be the consequences of that?

Ron Paul. It's part of his platform as well as eliminating a lot of other things. He's not going to get close to being nominated, however.

Hmm, I have to agree with Lefty. If you consider likelihood of being elected as well as likelihood of getting rid of the EPA if elected, it is Perry. I don't think Romney would try to get rid of the EPA.

The really dumb one. Wait, that doesn't narrow down anything.

Consequences. I dunno, the Cayuhoga river starting on fire again. Like that.

Hey, I look pretty good in one of those face masks...Who needs clean air and water if we all have jobs?

I think the question should be:

"Which candidate(s) will say they will abolish the EPA, but in reality, if they were actually elected, do no such thing:

Perry
Bachmann
Paul

What about all those people who work in the polution control industry?

Maybe they'll get hired by corporations to protect the corporations from environmental lawsuits by citizens. Sort of like those doctors that were hired by the tobacco industry.

As one can see from the actual results, the EPA has already, in terms of effectiveness, been completely eliminated.

Corporate America stirring up anti-EPA sentiment is truly one of the most amazing feats in modern politics. I just don't understand how the average person could possibly be made to think the EPA is a bad thing.

They see how companies are relocating to China where no one cares if they dump lead right into rivers and instead of thinking "man how long can China do that to themselves?" they think "crap, we need those jobs!"

They don't need to abolish it, just defund it to the point where it can't do it's job effectively. Then when the crud hits the fan the GOP can say "See, that agency is useless. We need to abolish it."

If I had the power to ax any federal agencies, the DHS, ATF, and DEA would top my list. If the EPA is responsible for anything as illegal, reckless and wasteful as Operation "Fast and Furious" I'd sure like to know about it.
