Where is Stossel's "17000 scientist petition"

I just finished reading John Stossel's "Give Me a Break" and he cites a petition signed by 17000 scientists who don't think that Global Warming is primarily caused by humans (or something like that). At risk of this becoming a rehash of the Global Warming thread, could someone post a link or other source of this petition. I've tried finding it myself but couldn't (otherwise I wouldn't have asked). Thanks in advance for any help.

Not yet, I e-mailed an organization called supportjohnstossel.org and they told me the same thing. I was reluctant to do so because I was afraid he wouldn't replied, I guess that's kind of silly though. Never mind then, I'll e-mail him. Sorry.

There have been atleast two other petitions like it, both faked.. and i must admit i would be very much surprised if this isn't faked as well.

Odd, I email reporters and authors all the time. I've never been afraid. I'd guess my response rate is better than 80%.

Admittedly, if you email a celebrity, you're not likely to get much of a response.

Not sure about Stossel. He likely gets tons of hate mail so yours might slip through the cracks. Make sure the subject line perfectly describes request.

Just go for it. The worst that can happen is that you get no response.

If you put your email is out there, that's because you want to hear from people.

I e-mailed him and if I get a response I'll post it here (if it's O.K. to do that). I labeled my e-mail "I'm trying to find the petition of 17000 scientists".

since when has science been a popularity contest?
Well, it is, in as much as science determines reality by consensus, based on evidence. In what direction does the overwhelming body of evidence point us to?

But it isn't based on opinion, period.

I don't think the hard core "free-market capitalists" would ever accept the results even if they were conclusive towards human caused global warming. The economic impact and requirement of government involvement in private businesses would be inescapable.

Even given that global warming is real, significant, and man-made, the question of the appropriate response is still not axiomatic. There's no logical inconsistency in believing in anthropogenic global warming but thinking the best response is to adapt rather than regulate. Disagree with that idea all you want, but if you can't even acknowledge such a position, you aren't engaging in an informed debate.
