Good afternoon.

I just saw this article in a local paper today. The Learning Channel is going to be doing a series following a local psychic to haunted houses in New Jersey.
South Plainfield Psychic brings her gut instincts to TV

The reason this caught my eye is because I recently moved to a very old house. One of my friends who is quite a bit of believer in all sorts of paranormal stuff, suggested they we should have a seance. I started to explain how a ouija board works and then I stopped myself and decided to take a differant route. I agreed to host a seance at my house in the traditional victorian style, using the same fraudulant methods of traditional mediums. I have several books on the topics as well as DVD's on how to host a seance. Perhaps this is the only way to get someone to open up thier minds to the possiblity that all of the effects can be faked. Then again he might end up thinking I'm a witch and burn me at the stake. Oh well, all in the name of science.
If anyone has any good suggestions on how to host a seance please let me know. I plan on taking plenty of time to set this up to at least provide for an entertaining evening for everyone.

And then there's her stomach, the barometer she uses to indicate the presence of spirits.

"What does happen to me is an unusual phenomenon: When I'm near spirit phenomena, my stomach expands like I'm nine months pregnant," she said.

Psychic presence - it's apparently like wind.

She probably says stuff like: "And then I sent the demon away and felt his presence leave me and only the vile stench lingered."

I just noticed this quote from the article:
Skeptics often are handed a measuring tape and invited to check her waistline for themselves.
Wow - there's an inviting challenge for Randi.

I feel bad for the next person to walk into one of those psychic "hot spots". I wonder if this can explain warm spots in kiddie pools as well? That might be a differant phenom.

I actually spent approximately 1:30 - 2 hours watching the whole crap last night on TLC. To the point that I lost my sleep and all I could do today at work was surf the net. Watching the show must have destroyed a good amount of brain cells.

I wonder how well this expanding stomach phenomenon would hold up to a sharp needle...

I just had a flashback to Monty Python's Secret Policeman's other Ball.

"It's a balloon Penelope....."
