What is the Hutchison-Effect...

Well, after reading the Wiki article, and several of the links there seems to be no real consensus as to whether it is a genuine phenomenon or fraud and fakery. Anybody have any thoughts?

Nobody else has reproduced the effect. I haven't found any description of it. He himself admits to faking it. It's not passing my smell test so far.

It's the reason I quit blindly trusting the Discovery Channel. They had a show about it on "megascience" a while back. (Actually it was the Science Channel, but it's owned by Discovery).

The guy is a total fraud. No 2 ways around it. He's an antigravity, perpetual motion pushing fruitcake.

Hutchinson has repeatedly refused to show up for impartial testing of his "findings." He also has a ridiculous insistence that any tests (conducted by him for an audience - not conducted by disinterested outsiders) have to be conducted in his lab.

Apparently, the Hutchinson effect only works on his home turf, only with advanced warning and lots of preparation, and on video.

SO he discovered antigravity in 1980, and now, 25 years later, we still fly conventional aeroplanes? I smell a rat.

There was a thread on this a few months ago complete with notes on where the strings were exposed and you could see the trickery in it's full revealed glory.

I always thought it was the traffic jam you get when two lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway are blocked.
