• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

I posted a repository of useful web video resources that I've come across in the past few months. These YouTube and Google Video clips have worked as quick, engaging classroom lessons in my high school physics classes.

Web Video for the Classroom

This page is essentially a companion to the previously posted page of resources for skepticism and critical thinking.

Skepticism in the Classroom

Hope there's something in there you can use (or at least enjoy).

You Tube is banned in this school (yes, even for teachers). While it's more than possible to get special permission to use it in a given class, I'd imagine this would be a problem in quite a few schools.

I wonder if it would be possible to get a similar 'You Tube' for teachers that's school friendly.

Any net-boffings out there willing to look into the possibility?

I know it doesn't help your situation for me to call that insane, but it had to be noted.

I've had some success in "ripping" video from YouTube and GV, but methinks those sites don't want you to. Here's a post I wrote about that.

Google has some kind of software "viewer" that makes me think it's possible to downlaod a Google Video clip and play it back later (while not connected to the 'net). This may be a workaround.

YouTube is "banned" in my school too. Our Internet service is just 512Kb for the entire school (students, teachers, staff). One person watching a video effectively shuts out all other users.
