Video - Crop Circle making

Making marks in other people's crops is both vandalism and impermanent. Why not use fertilizer on public grassland to make a much more lasting and non-economically damaging mark?

Our family moved to Missoula MT in 1965. A local fraternity used fertilizer to mark the Greek letters "Sigma Chi" into the grassy hillside of Mt. Sentinal. More than 40 years later, traces of the greener grass it produced are still there!

My main questions;

1. Why have crop circles not caught on in the US like they have in the UK?

2. Why has the fertilizer distribution technique not been employed?

3. When are we going to see crop "circles" that look like urban graffiti?

In an interview on the podcast Skepticality, Rob Irving said that making crop circles in the US less common because parking somewhere convenient was more difficult!

Most US crop circles are made by aliens!
(and they have learned not to get caught! Vivisection aaargh!)

This is the second time in less than 24 hours someone on these forums has tried to give credit for the artwork I painstakingly create with my Super-Telekinetic powers to aliens.

It truely makes me feel unappreciated.

It true! :)

Though I live in the US, I will have to confess my ignorance of American agricultural practices. Going just by memories of driving past, flying over, and still photographs, I don't think US farmers use the same kind of "tramlines" that we see in the UK, thus ingress and egress to the crop circle without leaving tracks is more difficult.

Soon, I shall create a "peace sign" 200 meters in diameter in spotted knapweed somewhere in the state of Washington using synthetic fertilizer. If someone beats me to it, I shall falsely claim credit for it....

Good thing it's Super-Telekinetic powers you have. With regular telekinetic power you would have been powerless agaist you enemies (but not against spoons), but now you can fight back ;)

You are assuming that the farmer does not financially benefit. Charging woos 5 quid to come into his field to feel the alien power could net him more than the worth of the wheat.
