Very Good Article on 9/11 Conspiracy

I never, ever got the 9/11 conspiracy theories. If there's anything in the world that's a closed book, anything that's cut and done and beyond all controversy, it's that a bunch of pissed off Muslims perpetuated 9/11.

Sadly, if there's anything in the world that's a closed book, anything that's cut and done and beyond all controversy, the synergy of paranoia and ignorance envelop it every time to create laughable conspiracies theories that endure in popular culture for years.
 
Heh. That's another thing I don't get- why do these conspiracy theories endure for years and years?

When I heard about the first of them, I thought they'd be gone and forgotten in a month's time. They were thoroughly debunked at the time and generally ridiculed. I thought they were nipped in the bud but no they only got stronger and more widespread and got more attention with time.

If you ever find yourself in Dallas, Texas... DO NOT innocently visit Dealey Plaza like I recently did. It'll make you ashamed to call yourself a human being. Forty Four years later, and there are still people hanging out there WHO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED! And believe me... they're not afraid to scream it in your face.

Forty four years later... I just don't "get" these people.
 
If only someone from the Cuban government would confess to that JFK shooting, then we'd get some peace. ;)

I'm just glad I never happened to be sharing space at Ground Zero with the 9/11 truthers. I heard on this board (from Moby, I think) that they protest there but I haven't seen it in the news or seen them near the WTC.

I have seen them at Bryant Park and Union Square and doing their stuff on street corners and they scare me!

Not to oversimplify, but it's evolutionary psychology at work. We still possess the instincts of earlier humans. Think of hunting expeditions. Did Bob really tell us where the caribou were feeding or did he send us on a wild goose chase? Did Jane really tell us where the deer meat was cached or was she lying?

It's a part of the human psyche to be paraniod, but also to cooperate. There is just a subset of humans that are way out on the bell curve to be paranoid beyond all reason.

I think that people are always looking for facts. Somepeople just look in the wrong place or at "fake facts". I was a xian for a long time until I just decided that the evidence pointed to there not being a god. It just takes a while.

It is frustrating when Rosie O' Tardo brings this up on national T.V. and and because Bill the bate taker O' Tardo makes a dig at her suddenly it is news. And most people who have never heard of the conspiracy' will only hear that one might exist...and on it goes.
