Once you've found your drivers you might also need this Windows patch:

Even if it is NTFS there are readers that will enable Windows 98 to use it, although I've not needed to try one for years so I can't recommend anything (a quick google for windows 98 ntfs will find you some).

Can 98SE read a 80GB disk?

You may find read-only drivers for W/98SE but you won't find full-function drivers.
NTFS and partition and file sizes are also show-stoppers.

If you really need to run W98 for some reason, you can either run it under a "Virtual Machine" on a modern XP machine or if you have need two machines, you can put the USB drive on the XP machine and share it over your ethernet. The W/98 machine doesn't know or care what kind of disk is on another machine on a network, subject to file size limitation.

Microsoft Virtual PC and the VMWare products are both good your purposes.
