Us Senator congratulates USAF Reserve on its 73rd birthday

In a normal (rational) world, it would be easy to overlook these types of flubs. After all, politicians spend a lot of time in the spotlight... with that much media coverage, there is always a chance of some mistake.

But, the MAGAchud have built much of their politics around attacks over these types of mistakes. (Remember them attacking Obama because he "didn't know the number of states". And every little mistake that Biden made was some sort of indication that he was in the late stages of dementia, all the while ignoring Trump's regular screw ups.)

Perhaps if republicans actually showed some interest in both consistency and policy, then these type of mistakes could be seen as what they are... occasionally humorous, but not really worthy of commenting on past the comedic potential.
You are expecting quite a lot from thick-headed Nazis.

I didn't really know where to put this, US Politics, Social Issues & Current Events, Humour, Puzzles.

Anyway, Senator Cindy-Hyde Smith (R-Ms) - yes, the same Cindy-Hyde Smith who thinks there should be no voting on Sunday but seems quite happy to campaign herself on Sundays - has "sent" the USAF Reserve a Happy 73rd Birthday card via Twitter, and here it is...

Anyone care to spot the glaring mistakes? Answers in the spoiler

1. That not even the USAF Reserve Logo, this is...

but worse

2. Those fighter jets are Sukhoi Su-34s.....Russian fighter jets!

Seriously folks, is there some kind of dumb-**** qualification needed to be a Republican State Senator?
Blue Angels?

ETA: Oops. In my defense I only quickly glanced at the little image on my phone and the Blue Angels fly airplanes anyway prove me wrong!

You'd think with the number of times this has happened, and with the number of staffers who seem to attach themselves to Senators, it ought to be possible to assign one of them to check this kind of stuff, and to get it right on pain of dismissal. I mean, even if this was an intentional prank, there ought to be a chain of responsibility whereby the prankster only gets to do it once in a career.

Ah, how adorable. Smartcooky thinks that facts still matter.

They don't. Not when I have my FREEDOM TROOTH!

Unfortunately, these sorts of flubs by Republican leaders are all too familiar.

For example, does anyone else recall the speech made by then Vice President George H. W. Bush (who actually fought in World War II) on September 7, 1988 where he discussed 'how the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor 47 years ago today'.

To be fair - he did correct himself in the same speech within a few seconds.

How hard can it be to make sure the images you are using off the Net are the right ones?

Yes, this ^

One of her staff is winding her up. Nice one!

Also, wasn't this same prank pulled on a GOP wonk not so long ago?

Well, they haven't found those pesky culprits yet! :p

A failed attempt to get cheap pro-military heat. I picture this dope asking her staff if there's something she can tweet to show her love for the military and the 73rd anniversary of the Air Force Reserve was the best they came up with. My dad spent a third of his life in the Air Force Reserve (and the Air National Guard) and he wouldn't have given a single **** about their 73rd anniversary. At least save it for a multiple of 5.

The fact that they ****** the message up is just icing on a stupid "look at me" cake.
