A US Congressman has pointed the blame for the mystery drones seen flying over New Jersey at four nations.

Rep. Chris Smith, who represents New Jersey's 4th district, says a "major military power" is behind the sightings, which have caused panic and confusion.

He said Russia, China, Iran and North Korea were all suspects that may be responsible for launching the unmanned aircraft over US soil, although officials say there is no evidence that foreign enemy states are to blame.

Rep. Smith said: “The elusive maneuvering of these drones suggests a major military power sophistication that begs the question whether they have been deployed to test our defense capabilities — or worse — by violent dictatorships, perhaps maybe Russia, or China, or Iran, or North Korea.”

Well of course the Pentagon should send fighter planes to shoot down drones with missiles over heavily-populated areas! What could possible go wrong?

On Monday, Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder cast doubt on the idea that the drones are engaged in intelligence gathering, given how loud and bright they are. He said about 1 million drones are registered drones in the U.S. and about 8,000 flying on any given day.

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh has said the aircraft are not U.S. military drones. Rep. Smith urged the Pentagon to authorize the use of force to bring down one or more drones to try to figure out who deployed them.

The objects could be downed over the ocean or in an unpopulated area on land, Smith said. “Why can't we bag at least one of these drones and get to the bottom of it?”

While I think this current drone scare is basically a panic over nothing what should be done if we happen to find a foreign spy drone over a major population center. Shooting it done is obviously dangerous but what other options do we or any other country have? Follow it and shoot it down somewhere safe.

So tell me again. How did a "foreign spy" drone with a range of barely tens of miles if that fly 10,000 miles from...China?...to New Jersey non-stop? Or did it secretly stop to plug into power sockets somewhere across the USA? If not China, the nearest foreign country is Canada, many hundreds of miles away. Or did it just pop up off a completely undetected Chinese sub somewhere off the coast? Or are there Chinese subversives living in NJ? Secret commies on The Shore? Heeeeeeeey!

You must have missed the bit where I said this is obviously a panic and not foreign spies then I posed the hypothetical question about what a nation, any nation should do should they find foreign spy drones over their cities.
