US Christian Flag

I think it's very effective.

I look at that and I feel an urge to shout "Oh for Christ's sake!"

I think that eagle looks really uncomfortable. He's carrying 2 unwieldy things at once, and he's clearly about to hit his left wing on the cross.

Also my first impression is that the eagle has stolen the cross and paper to build a nest with.

The irony that it is called "Operation Band Together" with such a clear Christian message appears to be rather lost on these loonies.

Let us all band together and celebrate the joyous differences of our multicultural, mutifaith society. What would be a good way to bring everyone together? I know - Christianity. Everyone loves that. Nobody could dislike Christianity - that would be unamerican.

It's a pity, too. What with Christians loving that fish icon so much, I think they really missed an opportunity here. ;)

From their Description page:

The Image and Colors :
The eagle carrying the cross represents the American Christian taking the gospel around the world declaring Christ's shed blood for the people.
The Purple represents His royalty, the White represents His purity, the Red represents His shed blood, and the Blue represents His bruises.
The 50 stars that create the border of the flag represent all the Christians of the United States banding together to protect our right to preach the gospel and to protect our Christian heritage.

The site has the look and feel of an Aryan web site. Especially the one photo of the flag. I know that is probably not their intent, but I can't help but get that feeling from it.

It also reminds me of this, from Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five:

Campbell was an ordinary looking man, but he was extravagantly costumed in a uniform of his own design. He wore a white ten-gallon hat and black cowboy boots decorated with swastikas and stars. He was sheathed in a blue body stocking which had yellow stripes running from his armpits to his ankles. His shoulder patch was a silhouette of Abraham Lincoln's profile on a field of pale green. He had a broad armband which was red, with a blue swastika in a circle of white. He was explaining this armband now in the cement-block hog barn. Billy Pilgrim had a boiling case of heartburn, since he had been spooning malt syrup all day long at work. The heartburn brought tears to his eves, so that his image of Campbell was distorted by jiggling lenses of salt water.
'Blue is for the American sky,' Campbell was saying. 'White is for the race that pioneered the continent, drained the swamps and cleared the forests and built the roads and bridges. Red is for the blood of American patriots which was shed so gladly in years gone by.'

Well, why not? We already have an American Atheist flag...
Holy (heh) crap. The ability of any atheist to make a stylistic objection to the Christian flag as proposed on that website has been seriously damaged. What the heck is that not-God awful thing?

Um... is anyone else scared that they verse they choose for their flag is about the end coming?

I am not going to say one single thing about Americanism, because I might be lynched.

But you all know what I'm thinking.

And PLEASE tell me this is a hoax.

I think it's refered to as "crimes against humanity".

There's something fishy about that Atheist Alliance...

Maybe it's the font they use for their sign.

Yep, every man woman and child in this country is a fundy. Even those of us that claim to be atheists are obviously lying. It's a wonder we haven't adopted that flag already.

I'm not quite sure why, but looking at that overladen eagle reminds me of this scene in The Jerk:

then a Declaration of war on Satan and his lies of liberalism and secularism,

Well, I think we stepped past the point of open-minded discussion.
