UFO: Miracle of the Unkown

A long, long time ago, I remember seeing a "documentary" on T.V. with the same (or similar) title to this thread.

Obviously, the show was about UFOs and, at the time, I was fairly taken in by it. Mind you, I think I was 14 years old* at the time, but I was very much into space and astronomy and I considered UFOs to be quite a likely phenomenon.

I remember they interviewed this quite awkward sounding U.K. ex-policeman, Tony Dodd. I can't believe I still remember his name, but he seems to be quite the UFO version of Dylan Avery these days, judging by the Google results.

It also dealed with George Adamski, and caused me to borrow one of his books, "Inside the Spaceships", from the library, although I never made it past the first few pages. Like I said, I was young!

I also remember some really shaky footage of some lights which were supposed to be UFOs. The narrator, IIRC, said the footage was taken from an aircraft and shows the "UFOs" performing "remarkable maneuvers". Thinking back, it looks more like someone just couldn't hold their camera straight. I can't believe how stupid I was.

The reason I am mentioning this is because I am contemplating purchasing a copy of it. Why? Well, apart from making a nice change to 9/11, I want to watch it to see how naive and impressionable I was back then! In fact, I think it would be a great idea for me to watch it again and report back to the JREF on how my opinion of it has changed. I remember my first view viewings very vividly.

To be honest, I remember actually recording it off the TV. I'd be buggered if I know what I did with the tape, though. It may have even been a Beta cassette.

Has anyone else here seen this "documentary". Or even better, still have it?

* I could have sworn I was only 10-12 years old when I saw it, but apparently it was released in 1994, which would have made me at least 13 years old, but probably 14.

My personal belief is that if people have seen UFO's, and aren't just making these stories up, then it is near impossible that these aircraft are from "somewhere else". However, I won't rule out the possibility that they are from this planet, created by man.

Ya, well, everybody knows UFO guys are nuts! For some reason, average joes take 9/11 conspiracies and the moon hoax more seriously.

NO I think it is a reflection of critical thinking. UFO's are not a topic that produces hard evidence one way or the other. With the Towers, science applied correctly can explain the collapse one way or the other. There is a way to test the theory

Same with the Moon landings... Someone can say...what about this or that....And a response can be drawn from the evidience

With UFOs too much comes down to opinion. They may be real, they may not, they may be something altogether different. The point is there is no test of evidence that can be used to establish a logical position either way

I play with them sometimes by saying:

1- For aliens to travel the great distances they would have to exceed the speed of light

2- If they can do this they also must have concurred time travel.

So why couldn't aliens be hear all the time just a few seconds behind us in time. We would never see them.

They spend the rest of the day scratching their heads and looking behind them.:)

The problem with that is, according to our theories, #1 is impossible. So if they have done that, then the one thing we can say for certain is that our theories are somewhat lacking in accuracy. :)

And in point #2, you say they "must" have also had time travel. Except, since the "time travel" bit comes out of our theories, there's no reason to suppose that they "must" travel in time, since we would know that our theories are wrong!

So once you speculate that FTL travel was used, then all bets are off, in regards to what else "must" have happened.

Well considering we have yet to find life over 65 light years away, I seriously doubt any living creature could live long enough to get here and back from a planet that far away, even if they were traveling at the speed of light.
