UFO Alien Disclosure Project

The Disclosure Project... just another bit of nonsense

The "Disclosure Project" is a very large and popular movement in the UFO community. The people behind it have very questionable "evidence" and are using red herrings to promote it to the general public. Many of the tactics that these people are using are "Free energy" and "Clean technology".

I am in Denver Colorado and we have been fighting a proposal that has been put up for public approval to form an "Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission" that would use the local City Government to force to Federal Government to stop the coverup and make all of the free energy, etc... available to the public. The Disclosure Project is one of the big names that they throw around as a credential.

These idiots are still at it?! This is Art Bell stuff. Every few years they have a press conference and bather on about nothing.
 
I have a friend who is obsessed with this stuff, to the point he drops it into every day conversation.

Lends me DVD's of conferences and really shoddy "secret space" documentaries.

I haven't the heart to crush him just yet.

Same here, Burning Beard!
One of my friends is a believer (edging on "knower") and linked me to the disclosure project video, which is 2 hours long. How can I approach something like that from a skeptical point of view? I don't feel like watching the whole thing... I watched extracts and heard nothing but a flood of extraordinary, conventionally impossible and seemingly unprovable claims.
How do I go around researching if it's possible that there's been a base on the moon since 1965? Or that Lockheed Martin is secretly reproducing alien technology that allows faster-than-light travel? That 57 species of humanoid aliens visited us?
I'm trying to become a better skeptic and not simply brush it off, especially since this is the centerpiece of his beliefs, but I fear that discussing with him about it would be like playing a game of whack-a-mole the size of texas.
Not that I'm trying to change his mind by arguing with him, I know I can't... But I treasure this opportunity at becoming a better skeptic and hone my reasoning skills.

So an image that barely qualifies as a photography of something they couldn't see when it happened is the sole evidence of the event? It couldn't possibly get more tenuous than that.
 
There's always this "smoking gun", but it's always "just around the corner". Followers of this woo get so into it that they'll hang on any little shred, no matter how irrational or unreasonable. It wouldn't take to many of these types of people subscribing to that stuff on an ongoing basis to generate a comfortable income.

If I didn't have a conscience I'd just about consider putting my advertising skills to work and create some flashy BS woo to sell to people. I'm an ex-woo of sorts, so I know how that frame of mind works and I could very well cater to that - but I'd feel terrible about it.

Greer just comes off as a stone-cold scumbag right off the bat. I couldn't get past his attitude from the get-go but managed to sit through and entire DVD of him waving bits of paper with blacked out sections and "expert witnesses".

I've downloaded the photo and had a good look at it.
Looks like a dimly lit bush to me, so we can expect the invading aliens to resemble triffids... run!!!!

The disclosure project was founded and is run by Stephen Greer. A former Emergencyroom head who's erstwhile contributions to ufology include,
Charging $300.00 a head to take people to a hill in the middle of the night, and use flashlights to "vector in" ufo's. This hilariously obvious scam was brought down in part by revelations brought forward from a skeptic who infiltrated one of the happy little bands trips and identified the ufo's as satellites.

Greers "Disclosure Project" was almost DOA at it's inception. He was banking on big names in credible fields to lend it credibility. Only problem was, once he recieved exposure, they began coming forth in droves to denounce him, because....
A. They never gave him permission to use their names
B. They were misquoted by him.
C. They never said any of the crap he attributed to them.
D. They had nothing to do with the Disclosure Project and could not figure out why the heck they were named.

Greer has a long history of profiterring of shady dealings in ufology. I could write pages about it.
