Two controllers

Like many, I use two game controllers, a wheel and a joystick. Both USB devices. I have trouble leaving them both plugged in; the computer will only recognize one at a time. (I'm running XP).

What's odd is that it "worked" for a while, without me doing anything. Everything was game-specific, flightsims on the stick, racing on the wheel. Then, no go. If both are plugged in, I only get to use one.

I recall in Win98 you had to select the controller in the game controller menu in the control panel, but there's no such provision in XP.
Ideas?

Hmm, I had a similar problem, and never really resolved it to my satisfaction.

You could try disabling the one you don't want to use from the System -> Hardware -> Devices screen.

I've only got one installed but in the game controllers window under advanced there's an option for a prefered device.

Might be an easier way to switch between the two without having to unplug one.
