I found this amusing :)

John Travolta is in Germany to gab about "Wild Hogs," but it looks as though a TV network there is saying nein to any Scientology-talk that he might want to spew. According to WENN, the actor is scheduled to appear on a program called "Wetten, Dass ..." (or, "Wanna Bet That?), but network ZDF is asking him to lay off any chit-chat about his church. No word on why, but the church, as MSNBC points out, has been involved in legal battles in Germany."
 
IIRC the German government has labelled the Church of $cientolgy a "cult" and its activities are legally restricted in Germany, it may be that ZDF is trying to avoid any legal problems by getting Travolta to keep his Theatans under his hat.

Yeah, I had read about them being labelled a cult there too.
But isnt Travolta now "clear" of all Theatans. ;)

Yep. They hoovered them all out with a DustBuster when he had his face removed that one time. Then of course he got Nick Cage's instead after an embarrassing mix-up at the celebrity loony clinic...

They are a cult, label or not.
Nobody except El-Rohn is clear - as long as their money and willingness to bend over for the cult leaders holds out!! The German's have a better legal system for that stuff though. So.......

Anyone know if Zionism is also classified as a 'cult' in Germany? What general criteria do they use? What are some other 'cults' in Germany? - Mormons, 7th Day Adventists, Methodists, JW, Closed Brethren, Satanists, others? Who else has been banned (from speaking) or worse in Germany lately?

I'm reminded of an old Norm Macdonald line, when the CoS was whining that the German government was "oppressing" them:

"The German government responded, 'We're Germans. When we oppress you for your religion, you'll know it!'"

Kind of in bad taste, but I still got a chuckle out of it.

OK, Moochie, being German (or ex-German - an OzzieKraut?) what is it about Germans that makes them wanna persecute and jail anyone who does not goose-step to their official tune - be it 'Heil Hitler' or 'Heil Merkel'? What do they have against freedom of speech? (or freedom of religion)? Or don't they like Cruise's movies? Have they crossed the line from anality to banality?
 
While such reasoning would not fly in America, the situation is akin to preventing a fraud from publishing their claims as I understand it.
 
Frauds are published all the time and everywhere - most, but not all of it is called 'fiction'. Some fiction (and fraud) finds its way into 'Reference' or 'Official' Information, embraced and published by the MSM ;)
