Defuse a bomb
Missed the Lost final last season so I caught the repeat that was on last Weds.
A main theme was the bomb on the ship.
It was made of C4 with blasting caps, a car battery, a trip wire and various radio receiving equipment to trigger it.
The “Losties” froze (with N2O) the battery to disable the power supply, but they were at a loss on how to completely disable it.
My question would be why not either, pull out the blasting caps, or snip the wires to each of them?
 
I dont watch the show but have a working knowledge of demolition.

Assuming it wasnt booby trapped, they could have removed the cap ( which can be dangerous depending on how its fuzed and if its 1 or 2 staged), or separated and cut the cap wires ( assuming it was an electrical cap) or simply frozen the C-4 making it inert.
 
So if they froze the battery, why not remove the battery afterwards?
