Things that god can't do!

Not wanting to hog the show, I'll only list my favourite "THING THAT god CAN'T DO!"

In the beginning i.e. Genesis, it states that god separated the light from the dark, to make day and night.

This is clearly impossible, if not tricky, simply because there is no such thing as dark; no such thing as night; and ergo, no such thing as god!:jaw-dropp

Premise: A faither says:" The bible is the word of god and is to be obeyed. It is the truth.":D :D

Reply:

If the 'bible' is wrong, the 'word of god' is wrong and hence 'god' is wrong.

So, the bible is wrong because there is no darkness: dark {and black} are merely the observation of the absence of light photons to trigger neurological activity. Gosh that sounds TOO scientific.:eye-poppi Keep reading!

Just as there is no up or down, these are merely frames of reference; so to, darkness is the zero point of light. Darkness is not a THING in its own right. Light is a thing of substance; darkness does not exist! Neither does black, nor white!

Similarly, there is no such thing as NIGHT! We live in a solar system where the Sun shines constantly {as far as we are concerned} and as such it is ALWAYS DAY!

Night-is merely the shadow of the Earth in which you stand for a few hours! Only superstitious, stone-aged men believe otherwise!

Yes, that's what I said:"...stone-aged men..." We live in a world populated by people of varying degrees of intelligence, formed from their genes. The intermediates are walking all around us!:p

If you stand under a thick tree to block the sun, is it night?:jaw-dropp

SO TO CONCLUDE: The 'bible' IS wrong so 'the word of god' is wrong and therefore 'god' {IT's self} is wrong.

A god can not seperate something, from nothing, and the bible has no right to call it anything! I hope that makes it clear?

So this is just the first in a long list of "THINGS god CAN'T DO!"

Please support all ideas with EVIDENCE and EXPLINATION rather than rhetoric...Ta.

Griff...:catfight:

Is this a 'things God can't do' thread, or a 'why a literal reading of Genesis causes logical problems' thread?

If it's the first, I would say 'exist'.

Look, the Bible is full of both stories and historical truth.

In this case, Genesis is a story about a historical truth... the creation of the Universe.

Are you disputing this truth? Because it's 100% true. Any of your baloney to the contrary is because you don't understand that Genesis is a story.

Also, original sin is true... but Adam and Eve... Eden... well we're back to it being a story.... but a 100% historically true one... at least with regard to original sin.

So, to sum up.... Genesis = 100% historically true... and a story.

So, Genesis is one Bible story we True Christians™ ignore (you stupid Athiests!).

Except original sin, which is true.

Oh, go to hell!

Darkness (the absence of light) would exist if there were no light (in other words, an absence of light), we just wouldn't have a word for it.

If a tree doesn't fall in the woods and there's nobody there to not here it, does it still not make a sound?

Crap! I used to be satisfied that the answer depended on one's definition of noise -- now my world has fallen apart

That still works for the original question. But however you define "sound", silence is still an absence of it.

Surely, the correct question to ask is this:

If a man, alone in a forest, says something out loud, and no woman hears him, can he still be said to be in the wrong?
;)

... there's nobody there to not here it, ...

How long were you guys going to let me walk around looking like that?!?!?!?

"HEAR" dammit "HEAR". I do know the difference.

I'm not sure I find "here's a list of 'Things X Cannot Do', where X is something I don't believe in", compelling to read.

Okay, it's over. Mods, can someone delete the thread? T'ai Chi doesn't find it compelling. Seeing as this forum is only here for his amusement we should get rid of this thing as soon as possible.

Move along. Nothing more to see here....
