Given the nature of the prisons in Iraq, I thought this study was relavent:

Is anyone really surprised that these things happened, and were captured with digital cameras and then distributed abroad?
I must say I am not.
I know and have spoken intimately with several who have served this country during a sincere War and or in actual combat. Men must be restrained 'throughout' the conflict with strict Rule and Order. If and when soliders are of an unsupervised and or undisciplined nature, war crimes and abuses will be found aplenty. Given that digital cameras are a dime a dozen AND these guys have instant access to the internet, it was only a matter of time.
We have reservists and 'private contractors' providing a lot more service than usual. These people are NOT representative of our Service Regulars, and are mostly the cause of all the problems.
The sincere 'fault' does NOT lie in the nature of the solider, but in the commander(s) who put them in the field, and left them unattended and or undersupervised...
