I get a similar weird conflict, but the question is, how much free speech do you allow to foreign nations being employed to disrupt the very democracy that allows free speech in the first place?

If it was ISIS that had done this rather than Russia would it even be a question of what to do to deal with it?

I made no claims to refute or discredit the main point of consideration found in the OP. There was factually incorrect information.
