What do you think about the Council on Foreign Relations, a non-governmental orgainsation, bringing in the North American Union, destroying America's sovereignty, on the way to bringing in a one world government?

I think it sounds like a premise for a bad spy thriller. I prefer the novel about the short people with hairy feet and the magic ring. It's much more believable and has a much firmer basis in reality.

I think you need to stop asking loaded questions.

When DID you stop beating you wife by the way?

Sorry, but I have no idea of what you are talking about.

If you would be so kind as to provide some background material on this "Council on Foreign Relations" it may then be possible to provide a proper comment on it.

Council on Foreign Relations

You will find that some CT's consider the CFR as a front for (pick your bogeyman of the week) Neo Cons, Zionists, Freemasons, New World Order, The Illuminati, etc, as an arm of the New World Government that will "enslave us all."

FWIW, in their own words, the History of CFR
“It happens very seldom indeed that novel and sensible ideas spring forth from the never-ending discourse about U.S. foreign policy. But without all the palaver, such ideas would rarely have a chance to breathe. Since 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations has been the privileged and preeminent nongovernmental impresario of America’s pageant to find its place in the world.”

In fewer words, a bunch of card carrying smart guys who think they have a better answer for American Foreign Policy.

My question is what do you think of fundumentalist christian claims that "Jesus" will be returning soon, gathering up the faithful, damning sinners, and creating a new heaven and earth which, inevitably, will destroy national borders creating a larger north american union and eliminating American national soverignty. My guess is that this "jesus" guy is some sort of communist...no property, socialized medicine, etc.

I heard he's Middle Eastern. Born in the West Bank. Probably a terrorist. Didn't he call for the destruction of some monument in Jerusalem?

I think it's largely a conspiracy theory based on an exaggeration of their actual beliefs, which are admittedly somewhat internationalist.

That said, I also think it's a basically good idea, even in the more paranoid "stepping stone to World Government" interpretations. We live in an increasingly interconnected society. Thus, the laws of the Mexican government effect me and the laws of the United States government effect Mexicans (and so on for other countries). When governments rule over people who are not represented through some sort of democratic process, they generally do not care so much about their interests, and that's can be unpleasant to said unrepresented persons. Anything from stronger trade organizataions to a world government would be able to assure that this does not happen, by assuring that laws are created by the representatives of all the people effected by it.

It is no longer the case that you can simply divide the world up into chunks of territory and have each chunk of territory govern its own affairs, because affairs that can be said to exist purely within some chunk of territory are becoming fewer and fewer. Thus, I say good riddance to sovereignty. Some degree of federalism should certainly exist, allowing local matters to be governed locally, but global matters should also be governed globally. Such things have to be done delicately, because it can certainly be argued that the world is not "ready" for world government, but intermediate things like a North American Union are not bad ideas.

Are you two suggesting that this isn't the case?

Are you suggesting that it is the case? Got any evidence of that claim? Going to address any counterevidence with attacks on Jewish people?
Last time I saw something about this it included a pretty ugly ad hominum about the ethnic background of the authors of Snopes.com.

The Council on Foreign Relations is the non-governmental organisation that runs American politics. It is just the American branch of a British think-tank called the Royal Institute of International Affairs, as Professor Carroll Quigley (himself the official historian for the CFR) discussed - see this transcript of a blurb by Alan Watt.

The RIIA has been having meetings and publishing books discussing their plans to bring about a world government for at least the last 70 years - see this transcript.

The CFR announced on National (Canadian) TV that they were behind the integration of the Americas (the NAU) on March 23, 2005 - see this recent blurb (mp3). (The transcript is not yet available, but probably will be soon.)

The reality of what really happens in politics, who makes the decisions, when and how they do it etc., is hidden from us by the mainstream media (which is heavily influenced, at the very least, by members of the CFR). But it is available to those who want to look for it. Luckily, there are people out there like Alan Watt who are facilitating this process. Take it or leave it.

The Catholic Church has been angeling for a one world government since at least Constintine...as has various Islamic Sects..given the state of the world, I'd be more worried about them...heck, there's one fundumentalist church urging fundumentalists to move to South Carolina and take it over...and what about those Mormons? They've got one running for President!

So, your evidence is you and Alan Watt say so. Guess I'm convinced.

Alan Watt quotes directly from the people involved.

To dismiss that is an interesting decision. Perhaps you didn't even bother to open the link.

And no, he isn't a lizard, obviously.

I did open the link. I'm at work, so I didn't read all of it but from skimming I saw what I usually see in things like this: quotes taken out of context. Here's an example of that:
